Hi Guys,
I just posted a copy of this also over on the TurboBuick.com board too...
Just wondering IF anyone here would have any interest in a company called Speed Direct making a rack-n-pinion system for our Buick Regals (G-Bodies)??:Do No: They have developed many kits for other models & makes and you lose quite a bit of weight up front going that route.
Any interest? Please drop them a line as I did stating your desire to tech1@speeddirect.com . Please also let them know (as I did) that the GM G-Body is a HUGE market for them to go after!:TU:
Their webite is http://www.speeddirect.com .
Thanks much for your time guys!:)
Terry I did just that. Hope others take the time as it is a GREAT product. If we had these not only would it take weight off the front but your car would also steer much quicker and smoother. :3gears:

YES interested
Seen and have an old article of a "80's" Pontiac G/P drag car with a home made set up on it. looked simple.
Alos have a recent article of a new rack and pinion setup introduced for the 1st Gen F-bodies literaly a bolt in, a self contained frame/bar set up that bolted in the exsiting holes of the idler arm and the steering gear box . had to fab a connection between it and existing steering coloum shaft, but it was manual
Thanks for the insight Kerry :TU:

Hey guys
I found that article on that bolt in Rack and Pinion kit for the 1st gen Camaros in Super Chevy, Sept "05".
Its a Flaming River Kit.. and yes they do have it in power steering.
Bolts at one end to the steering box holes and the other to the idler arm holes.
Dosn't look like they have one for a "G" body , maybe I can approach them about it.
Heres a link:

Also I found that article on that 80's G/P with a Rack set up here's the pic

Here's the link to those and the info on the Malibu Racing Web site:

The only problem I would have if there will be one, would be the location of the rack, I have the Triangulation front frame braces set up on my car just like the set up in this pic::::

I hope who ever and what design is made that is dosnt interfer with that set up.
Holy mack!!! But wouldn't combo set up like that make our "Regal's" handle? :Brow: :TU:

Hey Chris,
I think the triangulation bars can be bent around that setup and attached to the bottom of the crossmember. Perhaps stiffening with a front trame tie instead is the way to go then? Something like this could easily be built into the kit as an option for an extra $75-100.
