Saturday?!?!?! Then I'm all over it! WOOHOO!!! Can I bring my new '62 Ranchero? It's got the optional 170-inch six...oughta be good for at least 20, 21 seconds. :Brow:

Let's see, take the 350 out of the 2NABOT, put the 455 in...
take the 170 out of the Ranchero, put the 350 in...
hmmumblemumble...2200lbs...320hp...carry the one...mumblemumble - OOO! That'd be through the traps in 11.07 @123mph! Of course, that's assuming the dinky 3-speed and 7.25" rear don't explode in the staging lanes...

Anyone want to trailer my car for me?

Math: 455 + small tires + high gas prices = $$$$$

Wonder if it will die in the middle of the track AGAIN this year? Any bets on that?

jamyers

Heck, go down to a local tire store, and have them put some really tall cheap tires on some cheap steel wheels, and swap when you get there. Or, just switch to "Crooooze Mode", and sliiiiiiiide on down at a lazy 55-60mph. Or, do like I do and just say: "to heck with it, I'd spend this money on something useless otherwise", and put yer foot in it!

See you there!

I've got some extra 14" wheels, but it's hard to find cheap tall tires to fit 14's anymore! Anyone got any old bias ply tires sitting around?

If you have not changed anything from last time, then yeah it will likely fall on its face again. Did you try restricting the return line on your fuel pump?

Phil -- Would you mind emailing the track to determine what the entry and race fees would be for that weekend? A friend who is the editor on the South Texas Olds Chapter newsletter wants to put some info about this get together in the newsletter and was asking about the specifics. Thanks!!

Nope, haven't tried that. I haven't been back to the track since the last bad showing. Don't have anyone to go to the track with me and don't have a pit crew anymore! :Dou:

Did I say I've got a new fuel pump on it now? My luck it'll be the tank sock. :moonu:

I'm not sure that restricting the return line isn't a bandaid for a bad pump. I'd think you having a new pump oughta make a big difference, and who needs a track to check it out? :Brow:

It's not like the car can tell the difference, and from what I remember about the I-35 on-ramps in Denton, there's not much of a difference from a dragstrip.

Yeah Phil, I saw that. I have no prejudices. He can park wherever he would like , whether it is next to me or a bunch of camaros. However, I am planning on getting there early so I can park right in the middle of a bunch of Buicks :Brow: ! j/k

It runs fine everywhere except the track. There are no back roads around here anymore. They can take your license away and/or a big fat ticket for exhibition of acceleration and racing. :3gears: I can't take that chance. I drive for my work!

That is two months to buy the parts and have it installed. Does anyone know what the break-in period is on a new rearend? Might need to take that into consideration. Don't want the track to be the first real use.

Phil, I need the breakdown for the winners of the sponsor money ($500.00)

I can't remember??

The track money is as follows:

$300.00 to the winner
$150.00 runner up
$50.00 Semis

TXGS
09-29-2005, 09:56 PM
Thats the format dave!

Our money will be broken out like

$250
$150
$50

In the event of a tie it will be the best reaction that takes the win. :beer

Regal1
09-29-2005, 10:00 PM
I got the track money. Is the Buick money the same breakdown????

I thought it was

1st 250.00
2nd 150.00
3rd 100.00

?????????????????????

TXGS
09-30-2005, 05:30 AM
Your right dave.

250
150
100

I need to confirm the track payout. I will let you know soon as I find out. :beer

We should have a nice group there as the oldsmobile guys want to participate also. This should make for a better track payout (I hope anyways)

Phil, I've lost track, what with all the bikini calendar talk...is the racing format bracket or head's up?

TXGS
09-30-2005, 10:53 AM
It's a bracket race. If I remember correctly to participate in the Street meet race your car must be registered and inspected. The Buick money will go toward the Buick who participates in this race. Dedicated racecars will be there for test and tune only (if we have any). I am not sure if we have many full up racecars attending this race :beer

Hey now, that sounds like a dropping of the gauntlet. I was wondering when the competitive spirit would get arroused  . Hopefully we will have a few quick Olds out there (that would not include mine  ). There should be a couple of cars in the 11s anyways.

Dave or Phil,

Is the track in Temple a quarter mile or eighth mile track? It's been at least 20 years since I've been there (it was a quarter mile then), and my brother said he thought it was now an eighth mile track. Thanks.
