guys we are running a 28/9 m/t slick going thru the traps at 6600 .that is running a 10.98 at 122mph in a 3450 car with a400/350/with a 390 gear combo the eng has a roller and we shift at 7000+ my question is do you think we can drop to a 26 in tire so were going thru at say 7200 //and do you think a 26in tire would help or hurt ??? our 60ft is a 151 t0 157 range thanks pete//our other op is a 410 gear but thats $$$$$

I think you'd probably only pick up .1 at best in the quarter. I don't know that going to a 4.10 gear would do much different either.
It would be cheapest if you could try and lighten the car some. Every 100 lbs. is worth approximately one tenth.

thanks phil ive been trying to see just what we could do to lighten it but except for the radio and the back seat and the side mirror what car we pull?? ive read that the inner fenders should stay in so what is left???the drivr could loose about 30ibs lol pete

I was supposed to go to Norwalk this evening. 50 degrees, 30.00 barometer, 65% humidity, great weather. Unfortunately it's also drizzling/raining, so I've been washed out. and this was Norwalk's last test-n-tune Friday.
I don't know, maybe I'll try and go to Dragway 42, but that track is always slower than Norwalk and not very well prepped.

Tell us more about this engine sounds interesting.I have learned from experimenting with dozens of tire combos on my 69 that the taller tire works better fo the 60fts but if you want to rpm it higher go with a 30x9 radial they don't grow at all at speed ,and put more gear in it like say a 4:30. or 4.56:beer
