has anyone installed 4 speed in 86 regal?

Hi!
I'm putting a 455 in my 86 regal and am having trouble with putting in a hyd. clutch. Has any one done this? I'm using malibu pedals that do bolt right in, but when I go to mount the master the inner fender is in the way. I thought of getting out the propane tourch to " soften it up" to get some extra room.
Any thoughts? My master cyl. is a wildwood unit? I know I will have to fabricate a master cyl. mount to the fire wall , thats no problem. Also what about the clutch fork? how much would the floor need to be massaged to get a straight fork in?
I have seen threads on this site for older skylarks and that suggest the wildwood master I bought but it looks like thay have a little more room? My motto is "there is no such thing as won't fit!!"

Four speed in a Regal? Yup, done it. But I use linkage and not the hydralic set-up you are using, so I don't think I can offer you any help. The G-body specific clutch fork and bell are indeed designed for floor clearance. If you wanna run a straight fork, you'll have to modify the floor as you say. If I can soon, I'll crawl under my Regal and show how close it is. While I don't think the floor mod would be overly huge, I do think its a bad place to do it since you'll creat a bulge on the tunnel that will likely interfer with your leg-to-gas pedal ergonomics. As for the propane torch on the inner fenders, I'd say try a heat gun first. Good luck with your swap! :3gears:

Mike Garrison had a 5-speed, Buick 350-powered Regal at one time. Maybe he knows a thing or two.

One of my students had a 78 Cutlass with a 5 speed (which he kept breaking) and a 260 V8 engine, so GM did make a stick shift G-body at one time. I'm sure finding anything would be almost impossible but the bellhousing and clutch linkage should work. This is one of those deals you are going to have to do whatever it takes to make it work. some manual tilt steering columns on ebay that a guy is putting together for G bodies.
