I heard a rumor that Poston Ent. was making repro 1965 Skylark hood ornaments for $40? (I suppose I could just call them myself...:o )
Anyone heard anything?

Dan,
Poston made one years ago for the 65's. I bought one around 1992-93 and they were $50 then. The quality was so-so (in my opinion) but were passable to most. I didn't know whe they were dropped from their catalog.
Are you still interested in any of those parts? Let me know!

I ordered a hood ornament today from Poston... $43 w/ shipping. I hope the quality is good, but I think it is still better than buying the tri-shield foil insert that is on eBay right now......

Dan,
Let us know what you think of it when you get it. I'm curious what others opinions are on this.

Mark-
I agree with you on the hood ornament. Quality is "OK" but passable to most....
BTW - The rod where the nut goes on is not threaded...Is that speed nut self-tapping?
And Here's a pic for others to see:

Dan,
I looked at those "foil" pieces you mentioned on eBay - different. You'd end up with sort-of a "new looking" Tri-Shield, with the pot metal dull and pitted. Hmmmm. I'm glad to see I'm not too far off base on the Poston repro. I have an NOS one in my stash (sshhhh!) so I have something to compare it to. I think I'm going to eventually end up using the Poston part, just because the NOS ones are so scarce (and those 70 guys think they have problems finding parts!)
Yes, the speed nut is self tapping, no threads needed.
