Dave from Pa ,First Buick. Is there a way to use open driveshaft on stock rear?
Is there any after market parts to put disc brakes on front, or will another year fit? Are there any other kind of wheels that will fit bolt pattern? Not many of these around to get parts for. Thank you in advance for any input

Dave,
Someone on the board did a really nice job machining a front yoke/flange to convert their rear to open. You will have to do a search for driveshaft/trans conversions. The post was atleast last year so I am not sure if it is still around but he had good clear pictures, it might help alot.
I went with a 59-64 Olds rear but had to do the whole rear suspension with it.
Any 5x5" wheel such as big GM cars-rear drive BOnneviles, Impalas, etc, as well as 1/2 ton 2wd GM trucks will fit if you have the centers machined to fit over the hub flange.
I don't know of a direct fit front disc kit for the spindles but I 'upgraded'(?) to late 45 fin drums off a 64 fullsize Buick and put the roller bearings on, I just had to machine the inner race from the old bearing to locate the race on the new bearing.

Thanks Joe for the great ideas. Sounds like you've been there already.
Especially like the one about changing the entire rear. I have been looking at that for some time now,but wasn't sure it could be done.
Thank you again, and do you mind if I get back to you later and pick your brain about the change over?
Dave
