I am looking for pictures of 1968-1969 Skylark/GS/Special with a rear trunk mounted spoiler. I have seen them adverstised in some Buick vendor ads but has anyone bought them? How did they fit, are you satisfied?
This is the only out of focus shot I found on the web. Any one else?

I saw one on a 68 or 69 vert awhile back. It looked good from the side but I didn't care for the way it looked from the rear. Something about the way the 68/69 cars swoop downward at the end of the trunklid and the bumper sits on an angle just didn't do it for me. Not sure if I'm doing a good job describing in words what I saw but it's just my $.02.
Maybe you could order it with the understanding from the vendor that you are going to mock it up on your trunk and if you don't like the way it looks you will be returning it.

I agree!!!! The 68-69 Skylark is a bird all its own! I really like the style and bolting a rear wing takes away from the nice body lines. Also because of the placement and the distance mounted from the very rear of the car doesn't look right, DON'T ADD THIS!!! AL.

I agree with what everyone here said so far. The distance from the actual spoiler location to the end of the decklid is too long, in conjuntion with the downward sweep of the deck, it just doesn't work on a 69 or 68. Just my opinion. A couple places offer them, but I don't think they are flying off the shelves. I wish the same amount of effort went into reproducing the 69 GS decklid lip molding. That would be a welcomed item. (if done well)

I am now thinking I'll just not go there. I had the idea to do a yellow/black GSX type 69 back in the 70's when I was in high school, spent hours daydreaming and even did some good drawings of a potential car but I never saw the rear view. From the side it does look pretty good but from the back, it looks like it's in the middle of the trunk!

I some what agree, it would better with the 71-72 N-25 exhaust tail pipe ends, AL.

I think, what makes it work better on the orange one is that it doesn't have a vinyl top.

I have to agree with everyone else. Please don't do it. The person that bought my GS California 20 years ago, took it home, painted it canary yellow and put a wing on it. I still have nightmares from seeing it go down the road like that.
It just interrupts the whole flow of the car.

True. I have a different theory though. I think the reason it looks better on the orange car is because the car and the spoiler are the same color. You take that orange car and make that spoiler black and it changes everything.
But you're right, it looks better on a non-vinyl car anayway.

I too am guillty of purchasing a spoiler for my '69 Skylark. I also agree that it doesn't look good with a vinyl top, overkill if you ask me. I think another key factor is the color choice. Yellow is very loud and so is orange but my car was yellow before I bought it and now its black what a difference that makes.
When it comes down to it, its what you like.
They are most unattractive on the 66 and 69's.
And I think the 70's-72's look better without one too!
On a GSX ...that's a different story beacause that's
the way the factory made em.
But it's your car so do what "YOU" want not what
we want!
