Hello, I am new to Buick Musclecars and wondering what years is documentation available for Buick GS cars?How do you get it? Thanks. WW :Do No:

I depends on the years and what you want.

Pre 70----Nothing but statistics are available for the pre 70 model year. Daily car reports are available that do describe the number of cars with certain options.


70 model year-- Car specific info is available part from Sloan ( from say August 69 to say the end of November 69 build dates) Wayne Roberts has the balance of the 70 year reports that are car specific. Sloan and some Board members here have the daily reports for statistics. (The split in the records is actually by sequence number)


71 model year-- No car specific records are known to exist except what is in the actual car or from the dealer that sold it. Daily report statistics are available just like for other years.


72 and after- Sloan has the car specific records and the daily reports.

I have emailed Wayne Roberts a number of times requesting assistance in the documentation of my 70 GS Stage 1. Wayne does not respond to my email.

There is a prepayment fee. He always responds and I have done a bunch with him. He does save up the reports requests to batch them although for an additional some you can get more expeditious gratification.

Unless you have the selling dealer's info that is correct. Now you understand that except for 65 models the VIN will tell you if it was a GS.

A dealer's old records might have the invoice, an order form etc. These may show the price, the options, who bought the car, etc.

Pontiac has the PHS, Ford has the Marti reports, Buick does have records for many years, but Olds lost their records to a fire. (Cads I do not know) So it could be worse.

Is there any chance that your GS could have been built and/or sold new in Canada ? If so GM Canada could provide you documentation .
