OK, I put the street 70 GS on hold for now. Got the bug to drag race again. Taking a 70 GS clone and going drag racing with the street motor that was going in the other GS. We're just using all the parts I have to keep $$$ at a minimum for now so we can race by summer :grin: There are better parts out there now days, but this is what's on the shelves, so any edumacated guess at what it might run?

70 "GS", sort of :pp
'glass front bumper and hood
gutted interior with 4 point roll bar.
no crash beams or window crank mechanisms, heater BS

4.10 12 bolt
TCI Turbo 400 w/ 8" Hughes converter

Some cam I got from GSCA years ago, a Lunati
.493/.524 lift, 225/235 @ .050
TA intake w/ 850 Holley DP
KB roller rockers
Full MSD ignition
KB headers

I ran 12.18 in my current garage project 15 years ago fully loaded so am I far off thinking low 11's with the light weight combo?

Looks like you should be around 3200# without driver after your "diet",and if the full weight car was around 3850# the et reduction will be 0.65 or projected a 11.5 +or -,assuming of course you did'nt put on a few #'s in the last 15 yrs.LOL
More accurate predictions could be made with a desktop dyno with more info.

Yeah I'll get it all bolted back together I'll have to take it over to the scales to see what she weighs. I might make a 'glass rear bumper for it as well. Only thing different from the front bumper I made was making the tabs to mount the taillights on the rear, shouldn't be too hard to add something in.

The street car ran 12.18 at 4100 pounds. It had 4.56's and an old C-107 KB cam. It should have run better but I was always making wholesale changes instead of working one thing at a time.

This should be fun to just go through the attic and garage to gather all the parts together, sort of a project Cheapskate! Not even going to paint it at first, just shoot it all with gray primer. If it runs good then strip itall down for some paint later and maybe the aluminum Stage 2's sitting on the shelf :)

Sounds like a cool project. Sometimes I get tired of making everything look nice and I threaten to build a Beater. Let's just race!

Not to be nit-picky, but with those ET's you're goig to be required to have a 6 point rollbar. A 4 point won't do. Just a thought. Have fun.

Actually I screwed up, it does have a 6 point rollbar, just goes to show you how long it's been since I looked under the car cover :laugh:
