I did do a search, but I need some specific information about specific sizes. I am sure it has been covered before.
I would like to know what is the biggest size drag radial I can fit on my 67 GS400. I currently run 245/60/14's on stock 14X6" rims. I have a pair of 15X7" rims cleaned up and ready for some new tires on the back for use on the track only. I will be changing the tires at the track , but wanted to clarify a few things. I am not trying to break any records, I am running a stock 400 with a rebuilt ST400 with shift kit and operating Switch Pitch. The rear is soon to be changed to a posi unit and I want to be sure of good traction. The best it has run before is 15.09 @91 MPH with the open 2.93 rear. I am expecting high 14's, but nothing over the top here.
I am assuming 'radials' are what I need and not the tube style??? i.e. ET Street Radials vs. ET Streets?
I was set on the BFG 235/60/15s (easy to get at any discount tire), but saw the 255/60/15s that Mickey Thompson makes in there ET Street Radials. I don't know if they will fit though, and I don't know if they are available locally or will need to be ordered? I looked at the car and have well over an inch on the inside and the drivers side (which is closest to the fender) has about an inch. Seems to me that it should be fine. My dad tried in 275/60/15s on his 66 GS with a 67 r/e and it didn't fit. Does anyone have personal knowledge here to let me know.
Thanks, it would be greatly appreciated
