More questions about "Keep your GM car all GM" decals...

I had a chance (today) to take some pictures of what I'm assuming is my car's original GS air cleaner. I remembered in this (http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=91336) thread, someone questioned as to whether or not the sticker on the side of the air cleaner was reproduced and also how it was decoded.

In fact, Duane, in this (http://www.v8buick.com/showpost.php?p=703621&postcount=17) post, explains it to us and it seems to make sense...

While the part number reflects what it should according to my 72 assembly manual (heavy duty air cleaner assembly) the two letter code doesn't reflect what Duane said...

I'm confused....

Brett,
That is the correct part number for your air cleaner, so that should also be the correct letter codes. What I stated in the other post "B"-Buick, "C" Chevy etc works for at least all the 68 thru 71 cars, obviously the 72's were different.
Plus 1972 was the first year for multiple routings of vacuum hoses due to the different air pump/ man-auto trans/HD-reg cooling etc. option groupings, so maybe they changed the decals for 1972 cars.

Thanks for clearing that up....I guess as with most of the stuff from 1972, change is expected, huh?

Yeah, 72 is a tough year, with all the emissions stuff coming in, and getting ready for the totally revamped 73 body styles, all kinds of codes changed, and many were added.
