I just found that the four wheels I plan on using are 15's, not 14's. Can I see some pics of 69's (or 68's) with 15 inch wheels? Please list your tire specs for me if you could. I was thinking 225 or 235 70 15 or maybe even 60 15's. Need to know if you experience tire rub in the rear as this is a problem with 69's if you go too wide.

Thanks!

Ken, I've got BFG Radial TA 245/60-15's on all 4 corners. Not much room to spare in the rear, though some guys seem to be able to squeeze 275's back there.

I have the 245/60's on mine as well with no problems. The 275/50 drag radials are tight at the lip. I can squeeze the tip of my pinky in there, though and so far no indication that it has rubbed. I can take some pictures tomorrow if it will help you.

You need to get 5 inch backspaced rims to properly fit the 275-50-25's in the back. The 4 1/2" on the stock Rallyes is just to close for comfort. :TU:

That would be great Dewey. A full side view would be nice, preferable from a kneeling position, so you're not looking down on the car, but directly at it.

I used to have 245-60's on the rear only, but they were 14's. I was going to go with 15's. Can the front handle that width?

I was also contemplating a more OEM look like 225 70's, thinking the taller 225 would look kind of cool and old school. But I really like the wider 60 look on these 69's and the lower profile 235 or 245 would help handling. I'm still torn.

Keep the pics coming! :beer

No problem at all fitting 245/60 15's on the front of my 68. However, I think I would have prefered the look of narrower tires on the front than the back, but then you have the tire rotation issue, if it's a street car.

this was when I had Bob C's wagon coil springs in the rear.

Thanks David. Actually, I really like the look of the fatter tires on the front. It's really my goal. There's just too much body over-hang from a front view on these cars with skinny tires. The wider tires make the stance look more aggressive from the front.

I really have my eyes on 235-60-15's from Summit. BFG T/A's are only $69.88ea less mounting, shipping etc. I think that would be a good tire size. What do you think?

Ken, if I had it to do over again, I might look at something other than the TA radials. IMO they are too dang noisy on the highway, especially driving from ND to OH for the BPG nats...or it could have been my open windows! :) And I might have kept it to 235's, as the wider 245's seem to "catch" on little seams and grooves in the road surface, more so than my old 235 14's did. But I must admit they LOOK great on the car. I don't think you'll be disappointed in 245/60 15's, and the price is hard to beat.

Ken, when I asked the same question a couple of years ago the advice I received was to get the 245's and be done with it. I have no regrets. If I were running dog dishes rather than rallyes, I would probably go for a little taller tire.

I sent an email to your listed address with a few pictures.
