Most impressive!!! Sounds like you have a very healthy engine in there. Are you running stock exhaust manifolds too?
There is a fellow here in Billings named Bob Reynolds who races a 71 Boat tail Riv. I have personally witnessed this car run a 10.50 but dont recall the mph. it's a stage 2 headed 455. Bob
Nice work Dan! I really dig the dual antennas...that was a mod in consideration for my custom 'cat :Brow: There are no antennas on it now, the NOS front fender had none...hate to put holes in nice painted metal:beers2:
Well, I love your BBB more than mine .. I've got to figure out where the missing link in making power is for my car. .
If you could dig up some more info on a 10.5 second Riv, that would be real cool. I guess I should add it with the info provided so far.
Ted, Glad you like it. The twin Antennas have been well received. Its easy to cut a hole in my primered sheetmetal...but I can see were you might hesitate. O well...Wildcats or cool either way. Kimson, Your list is half the reason I raced that car. I really wasn't gonna. Good work on the list, I'm happy to be on it. :TU:
I put this up at the buickcenturion.com website, but I thought it might be fun for someone to see here too. It's lists and graphs of all of my runs. http://lucidroom.com/racetimes.html and here are some videos from last Saturday when I took the boat to California Speedway. http://youtube.com/watch?v=UB_KhxuWkA0 http://youtube.com/watch?v=VZfiiCufxxE http://youtube.com/watch?v=00DPv_3TuTs
Forgot to add, "MY DESIGN ADJUSTABLE ROLLER TIP ROCKER ARMS". Please add to my times post. A BIG THANKS!!!!!!!!
I was hoping Dan would run that flaming Wildcat. That's a pretty cool car. I'm thinking they are a bit lighter than the early 70s boats, though, right? Still a boat, of course, but these early 70s cars are BIG. 14s with the mostly stock Wildcat is pretty impressive, though, and you don't see flames on big Buicks nearly enough. Nick
Jaymers, Sorry for being so slow. I've been quite under thw weather for the last month. The thrust washers I was referring to are those inside of the torque converter, namely the one between the stator and impeller. The high thrust load, compared to a stock v6, was causing the thrust washer to melt into the aluminum stator. That ruins everything, and the trans has to be disassembled and defragmented at the least. I had a good connection with a local converter shop at the time, and we changed that thrust washer over to a torrington roller bearing. We did this to a few converters, and none of those have failed.
Grandville455, Thanks for the buildup info. Your converter sounds too good to be true. I did test a few fixed pitch converters in my setup. They just slipped right up to the stall RPM, even on a flat road at a constant vehicle speed. I hate that feeling. And that was an 11" B&M and a 12" TCI. They both seemed like junk in the fullsize, but worked fine in my light Monza. What your getting out of that 10" model sounds really cool. That must be a good design and couldn't have been cheap. Good reliable engine buildup there. The Rhoads lifters with that cam appear to be a good combo.
Come on crazyjackcsa & Jamyers, I know you can both easily bump me down to the bottom spot again. Give me something to make me upset and make me port those heads I have laying around here... p
Slighty new best ET. O well, made it to the final four last night. I'm still pretty pleased I'm doing this with a internally stock 430. It's still more like a consistant 15.05 car at Quaker. I did run two high 14s last night though.
My 69 riv GS managed 14.5 at 93mph at wed. night drags. TA413cam, 2500 converter, TA Roller rockers. Offy single carb intake, and an edelbrock 800.
Excellent, you got a more precise time and mph, '60 also? The less XXX in there the more fun. :3gears:
I will see if I can find some slips. If not It might give me an excuse to go to the local wed night drags. will
Good job, Dan. Now I don't have to change my earlier post where I said you ran 14s. You guys are killing me. I don't really see finding the time to run my car this summer, either. Very cool thread, a lot of cars running very close times. Nick
I think this French boattail would give us a run for our money. http://buick-prostreet.chez-alice.fr/ <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b176/Davy77/FrenchRiviera.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a>
