Here is the finished result. Dual T/A Springs & roller rockers yet to be assembled!!!!!(Getting shims):TU: Mart
Nice job Mart! Nice and clean. Are those seats ready for the dual springs? One thing I see that may just be the pictures. Did you polish the intake ports? You might need to rough them up a little. Nice job on the chambers.:TU:
Bill; Thanks, intake ports aren't as smooth as the exhausts, Intake runner floors are not as smooth. Didn't hit the intakes with the scotchbrite wheels!!:Smarty: Seats are cut to fit inner spring i.d.,as we talked about, Perch surface is flush. Bronze Guides, Large T/A valves. Lookin GOOD so far !!!!!!!:TU:
Hey, i would appreciciate it if you post your before and after results with these heads, any gains, est. HP...also cost of job, did you do it yourself, i plan on doing these myself, what tools are required for this job:TU:
72 GS; These heads are home ported. Special bowlcutters, extensions, guide boss & seal o.d. cutters, etc. were made by myself, valves back cut,(3 angle), along with special valve seat cutters/dressed stone arbors, for valve seat grinding, Bronze guides, etc. Exh. bowls & ports, combustion chambers, highly polished. Intakes left rougher. My guide man says dyno it when together.Didn't have stock #'s to compare with. Alot of HOURS into these.ou: All work done by myself , (I cutter grind), With big valves, New dual springs, retainers, locks, guides, new cam & lifters, 1.6 rollerT/A rockers, valve covers, & head decking, I'm Just under $1,500. My advice is wait for T/A aluminums!!!! :TU: Hope this answers some of your quetions. Cam is in, timing cover, balancer, fuel pump, water pump, heads and intake in a couple days. Should have it all buttoned up shortly~!!!
 Don't get me started... Been thinking about one more port job, I do have some new ideas to try:idea2: and I also have another set of '70 heads!:Brow:  Heck, I have a whole spare 350 in pieces! Marty
I see that this thread is alive again after several years. How did the heads work out for you? Did you get the motor completed and to the dyno? Matt
Chris: close to 80 hours, that's for head seats,back-cut valves, porting, chambers, spring setting, etc. Lots of grinding & polishing! Matt: had stock cam bearing meltdown at first break-in. Tore whole eng. apart again. New T/A hardened cam bearings,(oiling at 3 & 7 o'clock)New rod bearings, dbl. checked everything, have 1,500 miles on eng. now. Runs like a bear! Doing tuning with carb. jets,, timing,& trans tweaking. Hope to make it to track this year.
QUOTE=sean Buick 76;1435285]Any track times yet Mart? I bet it will run great![/QUOTE] Nothing real good to report yet. Ran a 13.90 with ignition(coil/condenser) problems. I ran that with my old cam & stock heads!:boring: Put all new MSD everything in, just tweaking timing & jetting before I head back to run it with everything working right this time.:TU:
