So to "clone" a 69 Stage 1 all you need is 2 valve cover decalsuzzled: ? Nothing else? Cool! -- Steve
There's a guy on SF Craigslist with a 1970 "Stage 2" car, that has gs air cleaner, painted valve covers and A/C. Looked like a GS455 to me, but I guess he considers it the real thing.....Dan
Check out the direction of the ribs on the seats. LOL Front seat is horizontal, rear is vertical.
Saw the real thing in Lindamar CA today, Antenna was broken, I think I talked the guy into joining us here... Sweet ride, how many 69 Stage 1 drop tops were made? FLYII
and since we are quoting numbers, 135 were automatics. and IIRC, 64 of those had A/C. And of all the 69 GS's convertibles made in Flint in 69, less 3% were silver. SO, if you had a 69 Stage 1 convertible, factory silver in color, with A/C, it is probably 1 of 1 or 1 of 2. Would be a shame for it to be any color other than silver. NOT that anyone here probably cares about that, just me rambling on...........:beers2: :moonu:
I thought someone on this board recently found a Silver with black top '69 Stage 1 convertible, automatic in a garage and purchased it from the original elderly owner. Wish I could find something like that
Yes, I thought there was some discussions about how CLASSY a Silver, blk top, black bucket interior 1969 GS would look. I agree with the other guys that it would be a SHAME to paint it any OTHER color..... And a 69 Stage 1 ragtop to boot??? Geeze, what a FIND!!!! The owner should consider himself a VERY LUCKY MAN... WHOEVER he is...:bla: :bla: :bla: :beer p
How could someone EVER even consider changing the color on such a rare car :Brow: They should be shot at sunrise:spank:

Looks a whole lot better in those pics than it did in person. Can't wait to see it when it is finished!
Absolutely! I bought it, and then I traded it to _ _ _ _, and he ended up trading it to _ _ _ _ _, and he is currently restoring it back to its former glory. He is putting a lot of work into it. Here is what he is doing to it: " I am having it stripped it and had it soda blasted. Then taken to my body guy last month where he is putting in the new trunk and complete new rust free front clip. I lucked out on the quarters..as you may know it had full quarter skins on it and they were BAD, but the good news is that the original quarters under the skins were near MINT but for the usual rust over the wheel wells. The paint and body will be show quality. I think the car will be real nice when done" I made the mistake of buying it based on a "thorough" description from the seller and his pictures, and didn't see it in person. It was supposed to be a "rust free" car that the seller had to "look really hard" with help from me on the phone to figure out if it had quarters put on or not. I was really disappointed when I got it, with the body among other things and I traded it within days of getting it. I did my best to describe it to the next owner based on my short time with it. Once he got it, he decided he was done with project cars, and wanted something that didn't need so much work, so he traded it. And now it is being restored, which is great!
Wow, it sounds like the pictures made it look alot better than it really was....:eek2: Nice to see that it is going to be restored though....
