I made a deal on a '67 this summer and after doing the motor/tranny pull my boyfriend determined we just couldn't savage her with the amount of rust. Turns out my fram is rotted. So I'm on the look for a clean body unrestored auto column shifter hard top. I already have a machined 300 and a powerglide to build from the other one so eninge/tranny is not important to me. I'm in Alaska and planning to come down to the states to pick one up this summer and tow it back up. Anyone interested let me know and maybe we can make a deal that works for both of us.
If it's only the frame that is rotted - get a new one! That's what I did. I bought a '67 convertible with some frame rot, and then immediately started looking for a replacement. I found a nice '65 frame for it on craigslist. If you decide to find another car what will you do with this one? Best Wishes, Joe M.
The plan as of right now was to find one with a clean body and frame and take certain items out of the one I have now for it. Basically I love the column shift and bench seat so if the one I find doesn't have that I'll be using them from the one I have now. It's just so hard to find them in Alaska!
Maybe more than you are looking for, but maybe you can strike a deal with this guy: http://anchorage.craigslist.org/car/441717400.html He's nuts if he thinks he can stay firm at $6,000. I need a body section cut from the driver's door jamb. If you end up with a body you can cut up, please email me. Best Wishes, Joe M.
lol. That's funny I called that guy earlier today. Six is too much, but I figgure I'll got look at it make him an offer and he'll so no, but come after it sits all winter he might change his mind. My boyfriend said he's nuts, there just isn't a market for them up here, eveyone here is Chevelle crazy. Whenever I tell them I'm lookign for a Skylark they say buy a Chevelle, but it isn't the car for me. From the first day I saw mine I fell in love with her. I'll definatly keep you posted and if it all works out we can work out a way to ship that part to you.
Its not a 67, but I have a straight and mostly rust free (core support, trunk have a little rust) GS California. Since you already have a motor, I will keep the motor I have for it and sell you the chassis for $1750. It is located in Stillwater, OK. I have a clean title too.
I'm not familiar with the GS California, do you have a pic of it? I'm thinking the GS is basically the sport model compaired to the skylark so the California is the top GS?
Actually, the California model was a dealer-devised option in '67 designed to be an entry-level musclecar. The car is a 2-door post 350\350 bench seat, column shift car. They made about 3400 in 69, the last year for the California, which was the only year the california was offered in the brochure from Buick.
Hey Ed, Here is my rotten door jamb. Not sure if the curve on a 4-door will match a 2-door. I figured it would be easier to hack a good piece from different body than to try to shape a replacement patch. Thanks, JM
