Hey guys looked at the 23,000 mile 70 GS Stage 1 in mid-michigan yesterday. Overall a really nice car, with a little TLC you could have an awesome survivor car. Motor sounds good no ticks or knocks, interior is real good only needs carpet, underhood is clean, lots of ducumentation and reciepts, paint is reasonably shiny and body is straight. If you are looking to bid on it go for it you won't be disapointed.
Great car. It is not correct though to say it has all options. It has a ton of them but for example it does not have D55 (long console). It would sure rank up there on the options list.
I was just thinking, this car fits that car in the barn description better than any I have ever seen.
That is a great car. I love these survivor cars; this one is almost a twin of my car. Questions: Is the steering wheel pictured correct? I see these steering wheels in later years, like '71. This car has a fairly early model year build-date. This car appears to have the Custom interior trim w/ black (standard) seat belts. Mine has color-keyed fr & rr brown seatbelts w/ the Custom interior trim. Are there separate codes for the seat belts?
That is not a deluxe wheel, but rather a Rim Blow steering wheel. Yes, it is correct for an early '70. Custom belts were an option (that the seller forgot to check in the option box...).
This car's rear bumber is missing the center "BUICK" trim plate (between the tail lights). The car appears to have the Custom trim which I thought included (among other things) the rear bumper trim plate. Is this correct?
We have owned a couple of 70 customs and all had rear bumpers with the holes for the rear bumper Buick emblem.
One thing we all must remember, Buick was not in the business of building 100% correct showcars. Sometimes things happen, like the wrong bumper being pulled without the nameplate. Who knows, the next car in line may have been a plain-jane Skylark (to be built without the nameplate) and it ended up with the one that should have been on this GS. I would not let the missing nameplate concern me at all and if it did, I would simply put one on.
I agree -- that'd be a sweet one to compliment mine! But, I'm supposed to be trying to downsize.... why do these great cars come up all the time to tempt me? ou:
Look at it this way, your just going to equal out the brown cars to the red ones... just sell off the chevy's instead :bglasses: DL
That's true, Brad -- Just look at that wrong interior, hood and spoiler they put on yours!
