Just out of curiousity, I have a question while I have all you top guys in one place

When the top goes under the window trim, how far down does the matieral go? In other words, is the material supposed to go over the stud and the clip gets installed on top of the material? Or does it get cut just before the mounding clip studs?

What about the moulding on the 1/4 panel? how does the top get cut around the plastic clips that go on the studs?

I still do a few for friends, to help them out, most trim shops want a small fortune and the old classics are not that hard to install. I am in the other end of state about 50 miles south of Knoxville. Still miss Nashville though.

It is really a matter of time, money and nerves. If there is no rust and clips are in good shape run top over studs then replace clips, if rusty you run risk of cracking front glass. On belt mldg. I would mark around it with grease pencil before removing, and then trim vinyl as close to mark as possible. Vinyl top should go over studs,x top of stud with razor blade and work vinyl around it, put a dab of paint on top of stud when done, with new clips you probably could just tap on, but old clip might break.
