Hello, I got 14" wheels on my Buick, but im thinking to put new 17" or 18" (for example Foose Nitrous Gray). They have 18x8.5, 18x10, 17x8, 17x10. What size, width, and ET choose, so it will fit to my car with no rub ? What tires will be best to that sizes of wheels ? Thanks for answers
I have 17's on mine and they are perfect- fill out the wheel well nicely- doesnt rub when i turn or go over big bumps.
could you post photos of your car? what wheels do you have in front and rear, what ET, and what kind of tires ?
I have the same size in front and rear. Wheels are 17", I believe the tire size is Kumho 225x55x17- the car is in storage still so Im just going off of memory for that. I dont have any close up pics of the wheels, and like I said its in storage about an hr south of where I live. Ill get pics next time Im down with it.
I have 17x7 Boyd's on my 69, 225/45 up front and 245/45 out back, standard offset. The trick is to get more offset and then you can get more tire in the back. I didn't have the patience (or the knowledge at the time) to wait the extra 3 months for a custom offset.
thanks for info! what will be best backspace in that kind of wheels (17x7 or 17x8) ? What do You think this wheels ? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/17-B...014QQitemZ330217215918QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V
I think with 4.5 you can fit 255/45/17 x 8's. search on back space and see what you can find on this board. Make sure you read what the 68/69 guys are saying, not the 70 72's, they can fit bigger tires on their's.
here is my 72 with 17" torque thrust II's. should give you somewhat of an idea. also have 2" lowering springs in the rear with the front springs to follow this summer sometime.
I run the 17" Billet Buick Rallye Wheels. You can find a bunch of pictures and the complete specs (Wheel Size, Tire Size, Backspacing etc...) by checking out my website. > Link to GSX Feel Free to e-mail me with any questions. Since you have a 68/69 body style the backspacing may be different than mine though! Todd
Is 17x8, with offset 0mm (backspace 4.5") will fit with no problem in front and rear into my GS California 1968 ? Thanks for info!
Yes. NP. I trial fit a set of 17x8 with 4.5" bs on my 67 and it was fine on all 4 corners. The 67 has much tighter wheel wells to work with. So they will be fine on a 68.
How does your car ride with the springs? I am thinking the same springs and 18's on my wagon but am curious on the ride quality. Obviously it won't be like factory but do they ride like a log wagon? Also does anyone know if the wagon has any less room in the rear than the 2 door cars? Thanks,
It rides pretty good. Not as bad as my teenage years when we used to heat the coils to lower them, but not as good as factory or dropped spindles. It isn't real bouncy like some of them get. My wife even enjoys driving it. It does seem a little harder to get in and out of it, as I get older and my knees get sore bending down that low.
I have 17's on my 69 245x45x17 (7) in the front and 255x45x17 (8) in the rear with the 4.75 backspace. I had to just shave the inner lip in the rear
Thanks Chris. I am still waiting on ordering everything but that information helps alot. I love your car by the way.
Thanks for the information guys, but what is the center bore for a 70 skylark. Trying to order some wheels the information above was great but I also need the center bore so the wheel fits snub. does anybody have this information? Thanks
