I guess there's a remake of ' Death Race 2000' movie coming out at the end of August and there is a 66 Riv and a 72 Riv as 2 of the 9 featured cars in the race.
I was coming out of a show when I saw a poster for this movie, and looked at the car coming straight at me on it. I did a double take, I thought to myself..."boy, that hood line, those fenders, an those four headlights look awfully familiar, hey wait a minute! That's my car!" I looked at the website for the movie and they all say it is a 66, but than the specs come up on different sites about the movie cars and the engine is a 430, and 66 didn't come with a 430, so I think that it is a 67. About time those second generations got some more big screen love! I'm going to roll up in my 67 when it comes out. Zach
Yesterday, I bought a few parts that came from some cars that were used for this movie. Judging by what the seller had in the lot, I can say that they used at least two 1967 Rivs, one 1966, one 1971 and one 1972.
Last year, (6/29/2007), someone contacted me to buy mine to use in a movie. I refused to sell it. I asked him why he did want to buy it, he said they needed to modify it... Now that I have seen what they did to these cars :eek2: , I'm happy I didn't sell it!
I wouldn't be surprised if this one is horrible too... I think I'll see it anyway, just to see what would have happened to my car if I had accepted to sell it!
So the Death Race cars were being stored at the warehouse where I work....interested in pictures anyone??
Yes! The parts I bought were all numbered. I don't know why. Some had gray primer and most have light green paint on them. Were the cars stored before they were modified? I am not surprised that the cars didn't come from here as the parts they removed were almost rust free. How many Rivs of each model? I got parts from two 1967 and one 1966 but there were also 1971 and 1972 parts in the lot. I guess they were removed here, otherwise, they wouldn't have made their way to Canada...
the original DR2K is my favorite movie of all time. awesome in every way. the new one looks less fun, but i'd watch 'beaches' if it had an old riv in it. at deathracemovie.net you can 'death race you ride' by adding armour, guns and stuff to a pic of your car. fun, if you're bored (like me). YES!!!
The lighting wasn't the best so the pictures aren't anything special but there ya go. I should have taken some of the interiors they looked like death. Should be a cool movie guess well have to wait and see.
I'd be curious to see the engine of the Riv to see if it's a '66 or a '67. Do you know why they got to California? Did they made scenes there too? A picture of the the dash or the door panels (if still there) would tell it too (the door lock knobs were moved in the 1967)
The original one was pretty bad, in a good sort of way. I like B movies. This remake will probably be some dumb love story.
Truzzzz the new movie has nothing to do w/ 2k, no cross country, no bad gov, no killin' pedestrians. SUCKS!!!! (but then again, maybe it's better there is no Machine Gun Kelly or Frankenstein w/ a hand grenade for a hand--woulda ruined it !!) Find it weird though- late model trucks, stangs and Chrysler 300's w/ old Rivs?????? 2 Years no less(67 and early 70's) just strange. Maybe the guy in charge likes 'em for some reason...:idea2:
I found a vid talking about the cars and I think they show the 71-72 rivis being used! theres were a couple, all built the same. http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=41064392
