THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT JIM! Obviously the guy has a bug up his a** about TA Performance. These are the folks that keep people like TA Performance from making parts. Roller cams were made for a reason. TOO STOP FRICTION. They have been in the Mustang for over 20 years now. 20 years that is a long time. EVERYTHING I got for my motor came from TA Performance. Including the port job on my heads and the deep oil pann and the SFI flywheel. Also don't forget the Forged pistons the 73 up rods and the new crankshaft along with the cam, TA 510. Running for 14 years now. The only thing that I changed was the cam I went to a smaller cam and this got me out of the hole quicker I went about 2 tenths faster, big deal. The only reason it was faster was because it got out of the hole faster. I still went the same MPH. Yeah I will admit I used a Lunati cam on the change. The first thing that I noticed is that by 6000 rpm it was done. The TA 510 went past this easily. I just need to find one that is in between the two. If I was doing the motor today I would put in the roller cam. Who in the hell wants a stock 350 Buick anyways. I also filled out their little cam survey to see what kind of cam they would suggest. That was over a week ago. They say it will only take 24 hours or they will call you. I am still waiting. I guess asking for a solid lift cam and all of my other info was too much for them. Remember this when thinking about a cam...FOREWARD EVER BACKWARD NEVER. :moonu:
I like everyone in here but I think this thread is becomming tasteless this is a thread for people interested or actually going to buy the product...not a debate about what other product is better.. of course everyone doesnt need a roller cam setup... so back on topic who actually ordered one and what grind did you choose? i'm calling up tommorrow and getitng the following 114deg LSA lift .485 intake exhaust .480 duration .276 intake .270 exhaust @50 218 intake 214 exhaust
it's out now..they took a tentive order months ago to see what amount they should make a run for they actually become available this past monday i believe
Getting the complete roller setup. The hyd roller lifters are also in stock. Working on the cam specs still.
yea i'm also getting the whole setup i didnt have the @50 info at the time i called earlier today so i'll get that straight tm as i need to flip flop the intake specs for the exhaust
cason, slow down. you have to live the history of buick performance parts. and you have a loooong way to catch up to me and others. john
some turbo 6 grinds have more intake lift/duration over the exhaust side like that.. example HYDRAULIC ROLLER-Performance upgrade for Hyd. Hyd. 1500 to 6200 69-400-8 269HR 269 264 218 212 .511 .504 112 use with aftermarket turbo. Downpipe, intercooler preferred. Needs computer modifications or aftermarket computer. anyone else have any turbo grind reccomendations? gs johnny?
I would look at the Popular Hot Rodding mag. from August 2008. They had a article on boosting engines. I would look at what the turbo guys did and also the supercharged ones did to get the differences.
Cason, there are not a whole lot of people that would put much money down on a big project. There are still plenty of "investors" in a certain block from 5 years ago that have seen ZERO return on their $3k. And just maybe TA is already buried in their current projects. I hardly think you're qualified to tell them how they should run their business. If you don't like the parts availability for your Buick, then maybe you own the wrong car. And BTW, it's total BS to come on a Vendor's thread for a new product, and make a post pushing a competitor's products. :spank:
Back on to the topic of the roller cams. Why exactly do you have more emphasis on the intake side? If your heads and springs are up to it, a tad more lift may be helpful. Especially since it's a roller.
like i said in an earlier post mark recommended me to choose that, but on a side note.. alot of the buick turbo 6 cams are either equal in values for exhaust and intake or has a higher intake value over exhaust. I'm assumming its to help with exhaust reversion but just incase i gave both the gs114 and the alterted 114 to tim at ta..and hes going to talk to mike about it..perhaps they may even suggest somthing that'll work better then both..
It's common for the turbo cams. The 3800 SII guys do that as well for their turbo grinds, or run a straight pattern. The ratio of intake to exhaust is similar to a 231, so it makes sense to copy their cam specs for a turbo motor, I would think.
Guy, lots of research has gone into the cam specs I suggested for Mike. It is cool that you pointed out that attention should be paid to what the blower guys do compared to the turbo guys because they are different! It still amazes me how many guys throw big blower cams in turbo cars and wonder why they run like turds. In short, 10psi in the carb hat doesn't always mean 10psi in the cylinders!
