Rather than leave it to chance, or zero-ing in on the fastest cars, I think that cars should be chosen for "Heavy Tech" [sounds like a term that would've been used in 1969] based on a claimer rule: If I think someone is cheating, I put up $500. They then undergo Heavy Tech. If they're legit, they keep my $500. If they're cheating, they keep my $500 and I keep their car. Hey, I'm just trying to build a nice muscle car collection. :bglasses:
Hi Guys, Tim Clary brought to my attention that Bob and I did make one rule change for 2009! I double checked my scribbled up notes and yes, we did talk about one change at the shindig. We are no longer allowing the use of roller-tip rocker arms. It will be reflected in the 2009 rules that are ready to go to print. My apologies for any inconvenience! Dan
That wouldn't have been a problem until Crane Cams went belly up. They had those nice non roller rockers and powdered metal pivots. I run tham, always have...hope I never need one......
Had so much rocker an aluminum pivot failures when we first started racing the Ramrod, I bought a set of the Crane roller tips. Put them on after puncturing a rocker with a pushrod (don't use oil restrictors on non- full roller rockers...they need all the oil they can get)...then converted back to the stock stuff for the Pure Stock races, then back afterward. Was not at all happy when roller tips were approved even quietly for a while. Would have saved me a lot of grief for many years, doesn't mater anymore since the car's retired. Developed an adjustable rocker system using the Crane hardened stock rockers and the powdered metal pivots minus the bridge. with special studs, (had to drill out the powdered metal pivots...man that stuff is hard), Isky guide plates and the good poly locks....Used a similar system on the 66 400..even though my other race 400 has a set of adjustable pushrods on it. Tech might frown on the high lift and duration solid lifter cam, though.....
Not really a rule change, but a procedure thing. Anyone ever consider a different way to run off the shootouts than getting everybody there, then running off a complete lane instead of the front one of each and starting and restarting the engine 5-10 times? That would work like bracket racing where you run either the car behind you or in front of you rather than beside you. No issues returning to the lanes for each round as you go back to the lane you were in. Just a thought. My car runs much better with engine temp at 160 than at 200+. o No: o No:
that would seem simple enough to do......... I like how the automatic drivers will be required to wear poodle skirts and high heels .............
Glad you will enjoy that sight. You might as well get use to seeing the tail end of my car as well!!!!:moonu:
You keep saying that like it will happen..... near as I can tell, you have never gone better than 13.50 at Stanton, and I have :Smarty:
A "POOPLE" skirt?!? uzzled: uzzled: Do I have to wear Depends with that too? Any further handicaps you want to hand out to Auto Pilots?? First skirts, then heels, and now loaded Depends?? Why don't we just stay home so you four gear rowers (three gear rowers in Brian and Frank Rices' case) can have the track to yourselves?:moonu: How about we just keep our hydraulic oily couplings held in first gear for the length of the track too? I can just leave my car in DRIVE and read the paper whilst going down the track while you gear changers have to figure out what to do with the extra peddle and that shifter thingy sticking up thru the floorboards. :beers2:
Ohhhh, sounds like game on to me!! o No: Dave, your idea has a lot of merit. You might drop a email to that effect to Dan and Bob. BTW, welcome home.:TU: Thomas
Frank -- thanks for understanding our 4 gear mentality. With you girls out of the way it's more fun for us !!!:TU: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears:

Seems there's a rule against floor shift conversions. Try this with one bad leg, and three pedals.

Not yet, although I will admit to thoughts of that ilk.uzzled: At night, alone, in a dark room! Gotta figure out how to ET with you and Richards somehow. :idea2:
