Did they make one with more or less ratio? Mine sucks, you have to turn a bunch to keep up with the rear end. Thought maybe a 2 wheel drive version s10 box would turn quicker?
Mike, I seem to remember someone on here using a Camaro steering box, mid 80's? Skymangs, I think, is the screen name. Search for his thread on his car. Here's the thread. http://v8buick.com/search.php?searchid=2960922 Might be what you are looking for.
Manual steering boxes are generally going to be a slower ratio than a power unit because it reduces the effort needed to turn.
I was figuring on them being slow, I was just looking for info on which one is faster than the other? 2wd vs. 4wd etc...
Mike, Not real shure on the raitos but I think they are the same.I found that the skinnier the front tire the easier to steer. Just a thought, try another S10 box.
I have one coming from a buddy so we'll see, maybe it will be different? I really needed to just put the rack on it as planned. Next year I guess.
Mike: I think there must be different ratios as the one I used on my 78 Malibu was alot faster then the one I have on my Tan Regal. I actually used a Vega box on my white Regal because it weighs about half or less than a S-10 box but I didn't drive the white Regal on the street. The only draw back I found with the Vega box was the Regal would turn more to the left than the right, but it didn't matter to me as I was only (racing) going in a straight line or at least supposed to be.
