sufficient for what? Give us some additional details Will. We tried an electric fan and went back to the original 7 blade and clutch. The electric would not keep our 464 cool. Now we can hot lap the car at the track over and over without any head issues at all.
Not sufficient for a big block. If you have room and need the extra cooling, go ahead and step up to the Lincoln Mk VIII electric fan (Motorcraft RF-64). Moves 4500+ cfm (real, not inflated marketing numbers). But, you will need about 5" mounting depth.
George, What 7 blade fan? Should I look for an original fan? My 455 GS came with a 5 blade fan and it looks like an original thermal clutch by Eaton but I don't think I should take a chance as it may not work. What brand thermal clutch do you recommend? I have seen Hayden 2705 for 455 and locally I have been quoted SCS/Frigette 230-132 standard AC and 230-175 HD AC. How far into the shroud should the fan sit for proper operation? Thanks for any help? George
The 7 blade fan can come from any GM A-body from 73-77.....works great. Yes, 5 blade was original but 7 blade moves more air. Go to Autozone and buy: Torqflo 922797 for $44 I have an article on this at: http://www.buickperformance.com/runhot.htm
Thanks George, I will get the Torqflo 922797 and look for the fan. Do you have one for sale? I read the article, very informative, thanks.
Yes, I have one. Email me direct with your full name, address and home phone. GStage1@buickperformance.com
