Very nice article on Dave's FAST Road Runner in the new Nov 2009 MCR issue. Congratulations on the article! Too bad they didn't list the FAST website for those wanting more info on the rules and events. Jim:TU:
Thanks Jim, Holy cow It`s been a good couple of months for the Road Runner, Musclecar Review took those pictures about 1 1/2 years ago, i really didn`t expect to see them show up at this point. I`m gonna head out and try and grab a copy. Seems they are a tad bad at getting those "plugs" in over there, i just did a 3 issue 340 build up and asked 3 times and never got a plug for the machine shop that did all the work for the build-up or the dyno, etc, etc. Some things you just can`t control on our end..
Cool, I just grabbed a copy. Nice pictures, but I wish they would have ran the article by me. I counted about 9 wrong things in the article. Man....
Congrats Dave. I read the article last night. I'm building a 70 Stage 1 that was inspired by the shootout between you and Jim Rodgers. I can appreciate all the work and thought that has went into building that beast! :TU: I had to chuckle when I read the part about your back seat. I wondered if mine was gonna do that when it was re-upholstered. For anyone that's never seen that car or heard about it must really scratch there head after seeing it run. I can imagine the guy that's lined up next to you with his full blown race car complete with slicks and open headers running mid 10's. It's gotta pretty much wreck there day!
Todd, keep us informed on the progress of your green GS. I'm curious how it will run. Has Jim Rodgers raced his car any more ? I haven't heard anything about it since he raced against Dave's Road Runner, although I don't keep up with the Buick world.
I'm hoping to put together a motor over the winter months. The economy hasn't helped my progress much. The car itself is done (minus the motor) and we didn't cut any corners so I'm hoping it will run good. Last I heard Rodgers was in the 10.40 range.
Ah, can u tell me what are those 9 Things? I also have that issue and I'm interested what is wrong in the article? A real unbelieveable Runner! Very cool! No f.... cool! I like that F.A.S.T thing. It is fast and funny also. And the cars look like they should.
Thanks! I`d have to go back and read it again, but off the top of my head.. The part where it says i have a "chrome moly" tube in place of my heavy drag link is wrong. I have a stock OEM draglink up front. There`s something in there that implies i have aluminum fender braces, wrong again they are all stock fender braces. it says i have dummy heater switches and i have a heater delete plate. I do not have an aluminum radiator, the battery is not an empty case, it says i have a cast iron intake (factory Hemi intake is aluminum), etc, etc. All minor things........ I`m happy the way the article came out, for sure. Thanks MCR!!
Bought the issue the other day to show a Mopar friend at work. He had never heard about F.A.S.T., or Pure Stock,Factory Stock, etc. He about 5hit when he read how fast Dave's car is. He kept flipping the pages back and forth looking at stuff saying "no way" a car look's like that can go that fast, especially on those tires. He had a 69 RR new 383 4spd, poverty caps redlines, and he just couldn't fathom those "stupid" tires being able to perform like that. I guess I'll have to drag him to Martin next spring to make a believer:grin: Congrats on the magazine Dave:TU:
Yes still a good article, and a great car. I also have one Mopar '69 Charger R/T. I Like those Mopar B Bodys '68-70. I just wish those magazine writers would do their homework a bit better, and try to get in contact with the owner. So the information is better. Especially for us Foreign Guys who want to learn more about u'r american cars and sport. Wish u lot fun for the future and good luck in the next season.
