I am looking for a 7042240 Quadrajet (1972 455 automatic 800cfm). Needs to be complete and rebuildable. Can send you Paypal or make a deal with my reproduction black sports steering wheel (only a few months old) if you are looking for one. Need good pics to make deal - thanks! May consider at 7041540 carb, but sort of have a '72 theme for my project. 11/6 Update: Still looking for a '72. Either one that is a good core (no missing parts) that I can send out for "the works" or one that has already been fully restored with updates for current fuel blends. 11/16 Update: Purchase made. Thanks everyone!
I think I have a couple extras laying here. I may be willing to sell one of my restored carbs also. They haven't been run since being restored.
Brent...my ancient old hand-written inventory sheet shows I have a 7041540 MF 0841 1971 Electra, 455 auto, 84th day of 71. IF..you give up looking for that 72 455 QJ..let me know and I'll try to snap you a few pix and details. :beer Wheelz, Tampa Bay
7043240 shows 3 as the fourth digit which is for 1973....other than that....it is the exact same carb.
StartoBlue72, let me know what you have. I would be interested in a restored carb too. I need to rebuild the carb for my 350, but thought I may as well go with a 800cfm if my near-future plans include a 455. PM or email me with pics and prices: bj@ziptrucklines.com wheelz, I'll keep your '71 in mind. Thanks.
Brent, I have the following carbs. 7042240 MB 0832 7041540 MF 2320 They are both complete and came off of running engines. Let me know if you are still looking. Alan
Thanks, Alan. I'm still waiting for further word from StratoBlue72, but will keep your carbs in mind.
11/6 Update. Still looking for the '72. Thanks for the offers so far. I'm such a picky bastard. ou: Would prefer one that is a good core (no missing parts) that I can send out for "the works" or one that has already been fully restored with updates for current fuel blends.
Brent I have a carb off a 72 electra that had a 455 in it. My dad rebulit the motor for this guy and he then put on a holley i think. the carb was on the motor and it ran but the motor was down on compression ill have to look and find the number and see if it matches. Dan
Brent, I think about the only thing you can change for current fuel blends would be the cup on the accelerator pump. If I can get a chance I will still try to round up the carbs I am able to sell.
Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. I'm not sure what the difference is between the California model and the non-California model, something to do with emissions, I'd guess.
