worked on the Rivi from 5pm yesterday till 8am today Ok this is my first Buick. I got this locally of a kid that wanted a Mustang. he got this car from his dad and his dad bought it in "74". Suppose to have ran when parked in 06. I gave him 800 and loaded her up tonight. Going to change the fluids and slap some fresh gas and a battery and see what happens tomorrow. I don't know what options were for these cars, this one has air, power windows, power locks, power seats, and need to clean the inside real good and see what other options it has on it.
800$ ?? The car seems to be pretty solid and complete, can be a really nice winter project. Good luck to get her running.
If the headlight door motors work......they are probably worth $200 each, maybe $100 each if they don't. The Rivi guys will know better than me. You stole that car. :3gears: Rick
That's not fair! Wow - what a find! Where are you and what else lurks there? Clean it up and drive aroud in it for a while. It's a cool looking car as it is, and you may not even want to lower it.
. . . nice 1st generation '65 Rivy, needs some TLC, but for $800 bones, yah did good - enjoy ! Checkout the Riviera Owners Association (ROA) site at www.rivowners.org for info on the '65 Riviera. :TU:
That's a steal! Find some big car 5x5 wheels (must be pre '70 or '71, can't remember) and that car will really pop! The factory mags look awesome! Take a look in the "members rides" section to get some ideas. Tom Telesco, TelRiv on this board, is our local Naihead and first gen Riv guru. Best of luck!
Considering the weight of that car, I wouldn't be surprised if it already sits 2" lower than it from the factory  Bill
Great find! Rule of thumb: Make everything work properly and safely first, mods afterward. You have a lot of work to do before you worry about lowering the car! Devon
North of Dallas Texas, and alot lurks here. A friend of my dads has 2-1955 Buick Century's for sale for 2500.00 Ok the car has tilt, cruise, ac, ps, pb, pw. Fixing to get some day light pics and post em up.
here she is in the light. I welcome ANY advice on how/what to tackle first. Engine turns over, acts like she has no fire. It probably needs rebuilt regardless. SO, I can work on the body AFTER I get the engine out, and I am already considering ordering a Ron Francis wiring harness. So if you were a noob to the Buick's, and this was your first Riviera, what would YOU do first?
What a great deal! If it were mine and it was supposed to have been in running order in '06 I work to get her running again. A good tune up: cap, rotor, Pertronix ignition to replace the points, wires, plugs, oil change, fresh gas, should be all that's required. Then put a few miles on the car to get to know her and find out from that point what the priority issues are to address. What does to odometer read? Those nailheads were awfully reliable engines.
