This is a very interesting thread and the guy that did the work did a great job. However, I have one question..... If the Chevelles use the same rear glass and trunk lid as the Skylark / GS cars, what is the difference in the rear filler panel between the 2 cars?

I am assuming that the difference lies in the line where the filler meets the quarter panel, but I am not sure. Could a replacement panel for a Chevelle be modified to fit the Buick??

Skylark and Chevelle do use the same trunk lid, but do not use the same glass. Buick glass curves up at the lower edge, while Chevy glass is straight across

Question is would it be ok to use a chevelle glass and filler panel ? ( not that I would)

Yes, I believe physically it could be done.

Mike, I have wondered if the upper quarter panel sail and rear glass areas of the Chevelle quarters are the same as the Buick. They appear very similar above the body line, and I am curious if something like a Goodmark complete quarter for a Chevelle could be used to repair those commonly rusted areas typically found under vinyl tops by sectioning the areas between the quarter windows and the back glass, but above the body side contour line. What do you think? Thanks, Rudy E.

The chevelle I have here and the buick actually share nothing in common. The back glass area does not ressemble the buick in anything I have done for Robs car. I would find a non-vinal top car to get you sections from to repair your areas. Less fabrication to make it fit right.

For those intersted in comparisons of the catwalk section, esp the lower structure between one A-body line to another. I have several complete sections cut out of '70-72 LeMans. I'd like to see what Skylark structure looks like from underneath.

My car was hardtop all its life, and the rot is terrible. I never could figure that out. It was Tx car, has a ton of glass in it now :blast: I hope to have mine fixed next summer.

Chevelle and olds "tulip" panels are shorter than the Buick one. Have not looked at a lemans/gto panel, but I will bet it won't fit. Good ol' Buick, make it different enough so no-one can reproduce it.:Dou:

Very good info. here. I'm glad mine doesn't need this repair (it needs enough others) I'll check a donor body I have and with luck someone can use it. I am planning on moving it to the junkyard this spring. If it is worth keeping I'll post pics here. It is only a body I needed the frame. again very good and detailed info. I enjoyed reading :beer
