The lock rights are about $320 but first you need to ID the rear end.

Woah that is a sick setup, how do these motors hold up to nitrous?

GM pickups from the early 80s untill now use 8.5 rear ends. Lots of 3.08, 3.42 & 3.73 ratios available, even some 4.10 in the junk yards.

They love a shot of nitrus...

This is all through stock manifolds and dual 2.25 exhaust

Info on how the 750 holley was jetted: The car is currently jetted with 71n and 63f and it hauls A$$!!! I have made many small changes to the car. My current limiting factor is the Nitrous solinoid failed on my cheater system and I currently have a Superpower shost solinoid on the car. I'm trying to borrow a solinoid so I can hit the car with the 250 shot.

I've got Greg Welds on the car, 15x10 rear and 15x3.5 front. 28x10.50 Mickey thompsons ET drags.

:TU:Very good post, lots of info there. Wow, nitrous huh? i never seriously considered it before but it does seem to be my only option short of tearing down the motor (which will happen one day, maybe next winter) or using forced induction. And to be honest i dont want the crazy power all the time as my car will be a daily driver so its nice to have the ability to just run motor. i havent finished all the links yet but so far my understanding is this- The stock intake does not allow proper distribution of nitrous unless i go with a fogger setup, or does a kit like jay3000s work? Also i am taking from all this that my ignition and fuel system will need to be upgraded.

For just the proper set-up alone (bottle, ignition, fuel, intake if necessary, plumbing) any idea what that would run? $400-600?

Thank you again for the help:beer

There are many factors but you could set up a nitrous kit using one like the Q jet that is for sale for about $200 plus the $500 he is asking for the kit.

The only other way to spray a stock intake successfully in my opinion is to drill holes and tap them in each runner to make a direct shot of nitrous to each cylinder.... A 15 shot to each cylinder would be great. A bit more plumbing and cost with this setup but a HUGE shot could be used later on if you build up the engine, trans and rear end to handle it....

Tried to do a little junkyard hunting for some possible buick parts (and i just love junkyards, my friends had a hard time keeping up with me). Didnt find anything i needed but i did find some interesting things:

Amc Rambler American (nothing too special but different to me, should have checked what motor it had, only cosmetic rust was surface on the fenders)

Yugo gv+ :Brow: (in very good shape =O)
    Amc Pacer wagon
    A few Z cars
a possible 400 sbc (id flip that in a second, i might go back and see if the guy will let it go cheap not knowing what it is.)

    No x-bodys though =[

i am getting worried now because this motor is coming home wednesday and most likely it will sit on my garage floor.

Anyone fabricate or modify a set before? ive tried asking around but no luck yet, ill wait if i have to, but id like to get the ball rolling on this car.

This ebay auction says these work up till 76, which is when my body style falls into

Post an add for the engine mounts in the parts wanted section here... when these guys swap to 455s they have to change frame pads so there are members with the pads I bet.

i have, and i am sure at some point i will get a response, i have also pmed a few members and followed a few threads. Patience is key here, maybe ill try to do a test fit and mark like suggested and make sure the height is okay and adjust accordingly

Sorry if i repeated any questions, i am just really axious about firing this beast up, it seems like its been years since my car moved on its own:3gears:(minus one skidmark:boring:)

Also i id'd the rear end, it is definitely an 8.5 with 2.41 gears as my car came with a 305 and all 75-79 novas with a v8 had the 8.5 plus it has the round cover.

Great enthusiasm and intellegent questions. Anybody with a deep wallet can buy performance, it takes a real gear head to get it on the cheap. As I mentioned, check out rear gears from GM 1/2 tons as well as late 70's early 80's full size cars. (full size wagons often had good posi RA). &0's Camaro/Firebird ra should bne a drop in and may have better gearing & Posi.

There is nothing cheap about making performance with a 350 Buick. I've been working on one for a few months now and have spent a small fortune on it and did all the work my self except machine work ($1500). Everything cost more and is hard to find and get the right thing the first time. I've enjoyed doing it, but know I could have done a 455 for less and made much more power. Some will arge with this, but I have proven I can go in the 10s with a basicly stock 455, just cam and headers, try that with your 350. But I never learn, bought another 67 last night with a 340, so here I go again.

i dont mean cheap as in i expect this to be cheap, the title is just because i bought the motor and trans so cheap and that most of what i will be doing is just for the thrill and to see what can be done on a certain budget. this wont be a 10 second car, but i also know that i dont plan on any bottom end work right now or anything other than basic upgrades. For one hundred bucks i already am starting out with headers, a 4bbl intake to replace my 2bbl, and 2.5 dual exhaust, nothing fancy but it should get respectable numbers once i do some head work and a decent cam (plus all the other supporting work)

Oh.. It works.. Not many options for spraying on the stock intake with a Q-jet. I still run 34* of timing and a a crane point's replacement. That's it.
I just don't use it much and I'm building a fast car..

Thank you:TU: i dont want to come off naive and careless, i do realize that these arent chevy motors and if anything is testament to that, look at my car:Brow: i could go out and buy anything else but i bought this i like a challenge and i like to be different. im not in the greatest position to be tackling a project car but i want something to be proud of before college when ill have no free time for 4 years. i have a chevy motor sitting in my garage and at first the only reason i bought the buick was because it was cheaper than rebuilding the chevy. but after going on this site and doing lots of research the idea of something different intrigued me. That and i always over think about things to make them suit my expectations:puzzled:

Anyways we are all buick guys and in a broader sense car guys. Things are expensive for a reason, but i dont expect a rock solid 10 second car on a budget like mine. not till later :Brow:
