I have a 1968 GS with a 455, SPX TA intake, with a 900 CFM Proform (Like Holly) with mechanical secondaries. I had to replace my throttle cable due to the height of the SPX intake. I'm trying to determine the length of cable I will need. Question: What position will my throttle linkage be in when the trans kick-down switch (on gas pedal) is activated? Should the secondaries on the carb be opening, 3/4's open or when? Thanks
The gas pedal switch should reach the end of it's travel at the same time that your throttle cable does.
thanks, I went to a pontiac car show and got some good info, also. I see you also have a switch pitch with a gear vender unit. My 68 does also. Do you have a electrical connection on you brake switch to you switch pitch? Gary
I use a timer box sold by Bruce Roe (who by the way is a member on V8 now). It controls stall with 3 different timers and a vacuum switch. It works great. I just sent my box back to him for some custom modifications to better suit my needs. http://www.v8buick.com/member.php?u=27974 This is a good thread to read on the switch pitch timer box. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=192860&highlight=Bruce+Roe
