Great time Tyler :TU: . How does your car feel/working for you?
Do you have plans to run the 1/4 anytime soon?
    Keep up the good work.

    Well it was close anyway!:TU:

Yes WE want you to make a 1/4 mile runs before the 18th of June!
Cause the 19th/20/21 June we will be at a preppeed track to see how far in the 10s we can go with the new setup.

My best 1/8 mile time last year with the old posi/tire setup was a 7.1.
And last weekend on a non prepped, you can see the stone marbles in the asphalt track, we did a 7.4 at the 1/8 mile.

Might not be able to make it to a 1/4 mile dragstrip before then. I hurt the motor on my 1st qualifying pass today.

Car was running good on Friday. Best pass was a:

    60 ft. 1.5643
    330 ft. 4.2996
    1/8th 6.6320
    MPH 104.85

But on Saturday, my first qualifying pass was going really great. Then right before the finish line POW! Big ol backfire through the intake.

I got the car back to my pit area, pulled off the hood, pulled plugs, they looked perfect, so it wasn't the tune. Completely checked it out, and the ignition wires from my MSD box going to the distributor were melted to the header, our best guess is that ignition cut off for a second, and then came back on, igniting the nitrous fuel mixture, and bent a valve(s). We got a compression checker, and #3 is definately leakin compression back through the intake, but we stopped there, so there might be some more damage, I just got to pull the heads to see whats going on...

Darn! I hope its just a valve and nothing more deeper down in the engine.
    I wish you good luck!

I guy here who runs a 69 Charger with a 440 with a Blower, had the same problems last weekend when were racing to.
His car backfired the start, quit had trouble starting again.
And when it started and run, it was trowing black smoke out of the exhaust, his sparkplug wire were melted to on his headers.
He has that motor for 2 years now, and its allready rebuild 3 times, cause sometimes on the street he floors it, and he forgets then that he only 89octanes in his tank burning up his pistons!

Thanks, I think it didn't hurt the bottom end of the motor, it still has great oil pressure.

Pulled off the head, it is not a valve issue, I will start a new thread with info/pictures.

Heads are at the machine shop, they already fixed where it got burned through, and now we are waiting on the valve guide measurements, and all of that cool stuff. Hopefully I can get this thing back together before the end of the race season.

I want to get some more racing in this year!

Good luck with the engine build! The car looks great in those pics!!!! What rear tire size are you using in the back again?

I have the same wheels, hope my car looks as tough as yours!

Thanks Sean, hopefully I can get it back on the road again soon.

The rear tires are 29.5x10.5 MT on a 15x10" rim.

    Hello Bob,

I drove on a circuit track in april no prep there on the track.

Best run was a 11.42 without stalling the car just flooring it at the lights from stationary.

I just are starting a new topic, I just have come back froma three day race so keep that topic in mind for all info.

I will tell you this for now, with the 28.0/10.5x15 slicks my best time for now in cold weather 12Celsius and 20mph head wind is a 10.879@196kph
I was driving in the S/ST (Super Street Car class 10.90 index) and the car was so consistent that I was the NR1 qualifyer with a 10.902 run.
In the finales I finished in 3th place, not bad :TU: for a first race weekend with the new setup.

Just got the engine back from the machine shop. Now all I am waiting on is the camshaft. It should be here on thursday. Then I am going to try tackle degreeing it! Seems tough but I have a good idea on how it needs to be done.

Engine is coming together. Tyler has been patient and careful to put all of this together based on the specs we have found to be best. Not his first to build, but hopefully will be his first 9 second build. Degreeing the cam was a fun first, very frustrated for a while until getting the crank gear in correct location. My fault.

    Here are some pictures.
