I am fine with the rules, and respect Bob and Dans decisions. I wonder if this in fact will slow anybody down? The power from an 11-1 motor is not really any less than a 12-1 motor. Would it even be a tenth of a difference,i dont think so. If you want to slow it down, get rid of all the L88 Corvettes:laugh: ,They are not musclecars anyways:grin:

Hey, glad we agree... again. "Committee" or "Lobbyists", I wouldn't get too bogged down in semantics; it just doesn't ring as genuine to pretend to be naive about what's going on. If these are baby steps in a 12 step recovery program then, in fairness to Dave's original question, why isn't that being openly announced too?

Bob and Dan where trying to get rid of NHRA ( and the Bull$hit loopholes and rules) ,but still let the people who already maxed out there cars still have a place to run ! I saw a list 4 pages long of cars that it helped only 20% hurt !

They where thinking of people and there wallets . Make everyone happy!

Am I tired of buying legal parts and then buying more legal parts just because they changed there mind Again -Yes- But it's there RACE. So be it!!!

I spoke with both Dan and Bob at Martin Pure Stock shootout a few weeks ago and they have everything worked out.

It is their event and we are all lucky to participate at their event.

    I am re-posting my statement from December 9th, 2008.
I am not positive, but it might still apply.

"This issue is not what constitutes pure or factory stock.
    The issue is human nature.
It is human nature to always strive to do better than before.
We are a country of immigrants for this very reason.
Our ancestors yearned for a better life.

What keeps things in check are laws, rules, guidelines, etc...
Monitoring and enforcement of these controls keeps things from getting out of hand (most of the time).

I am having a difficult time grasping what the "problem" actually is.
We go to the track, we meet great people, we share food, tools, drinks, parts, stories, etc...
And we get to race on a dragstrip all by ourselves.

Just who are we trying to satisfy?
    1.Is it the media.
2.Is it the participants who find PSMCDR laughable.
3.Is it every loser in a 2 out of 3 match race.
4.Is it combination that doesn't make the top ten.
    5. ...

    That being said...
With difficult economic times with a media system that showers us only with negative news, it seems to be difficult to focus on the positive.

    Lets try.
Every year the participant count increases.
Every year the specator count increases (weather permitting).
Every year friendships are made because of common interests.
Every year friends meet at one location from all over the country.
    Every year ..."

    Hello Pure Stockers
We would again like to thank all of you for your long time support with the event. But most important, for the long time friendships we have all made. If you would of asked us back in 1993, do you think the race would be going on in the year 2010? I don't believe our answer would of been yes. We were honestly just two guys that liked to use our musclecar for what they were built for, (Straight Line Acceleration). So that's why we started The Pure Stock Drags. The first year we got together at Milan Dragway was a total blast. We didn't even have a set of rules until the following year.
And Casey keeps talking about running low 15's this year with the Charger, when I seen the ole girl run 14.20's, with lawn mower spark plugs aboard. You will have to ask Casey to explain that one. Anyway, the Pure Stock stories could go on for ever, especially watching from the inside out. So Pure Stockers once again it's time to put up the cleaning materials, and start spending some time under the hood. And get your awesome musclecars ready to do battle again in Sept. Everyone have a safe trip in.

My "trick" back in the '80's that Bob is talking about is the Champion J8C plugs that I ran in my '70 383 Charger. The official application for these plugs run the gamot of generators, lawn mowers, tractors, and every other industrial thing known to man. They sit higher in the combustion chamber than the RJ12YC plugs. I remember buying (8) individual plugs at a time at the hardware store. And they were the ones with the screw-on tip. I swear to you this day that a simple plug change gave me a tenth in that heap. When the ole girl comes back out again, it will be with J8C's -- GUARANTEED. Don't any of you cheatin' Mopar guys steal my 25 year old "speed secret" ...... :moonu:

Ahhhh - the stories over the years .......:3gears:

Remember the "C" body Shoot out in front of my house from the first "Race" at Milan Dragway ?

I had a new 3.0 Shadow. My brother had a '69 Fury VIP with a 383 that we had put a Stefina built trans and 4BBL on. Well, on the weekend that we rented the track, my brother had some hot date and borrowed my Shadow. So the VIP was mine .... hehehehe. Anyway, another one of the original guys, Matt "Skip" Hammond had a 383 Monaco. We lined them up out in front of my house and had a "C" body Chrysler shootout.......... I won

And what year was the Dually burnout through the garage?

    Hey Denny
You took the words right from my mouth. As soon as Casey mentioned drag racing out in front of his house on the street. I got a mental flash back of the burn out contest with the duallee's. I have some really cool pictures of smoke bellowing outside the front garage door. I think that was the night Casey's neighbor stuck the for sale in their front yard. Now, remember now, before they did the burn outs, they were thinking about hooking the trucks together and have a pulling contest. Sure glad they chose to do the burnouts instead. OOOhhhh the Pure Stock Stories are all starting to come back now.
    :beers2: :3gears:

  16. Jeremy McNicol

Jeremy McNicol We had a good time

Casey when you get that 383 bolted together drive it straight to my house and do a burnout. We could even pick up Clary, then on to the next house.

Tim and I did this with the 71 and had a blast getting friends out of bed

My friend Kyle and I did this to Tim when I bought the first Buick. We pulled back into the drive and said Hi with cans falling out and all :beers2:

You could put factory plugs in and drive around robbing mower plugs :Brow:

Remember, Denny, me getting pissed because I tagged the dually fender on the edge of the garage door opening and knocking one of the clearance lights off the fender ..... and I proceeded to chuck it into the cornfield ?

Alcohol might have been have been a factor ...

As a matter of fact, I was testing the prowess of the Dually last evening. Pulled the trailer home so that I can help my neighbor move, unhooked the trailer, pulled away and left a little scratch, turned around in the cul-de-sac and left a good 8 ft of scratch. Hard tires you know!!!!:Brow:
