Here are some pics of the Reynolds Buick '65 Gran Sport just now under construction. Early '65 GS with small grille emblem, just like Pop's.
And here I am crawling underneath my 66 skylark scraping and degreasing, priming and painting and then I see pictures of this.....makes me sick! :af: I wish I had this much room to work on my car it would be like a dream......looks very good Scott
Looks like a real clean and solid car to start with......where did it come from? Keep us posted on the progress with pictures. My current build is nearing completion. Peace WildBill
We pulled this car out of Arizona where it had been sitting for 20 years or so in a junk yard. Its pretty solid and is getting a brand new lease on life. When done in September she'll be at Reynolds Buick in L A for a weekend event celebrating Buick GS heritage. Pete and Don Reynolds will be hosting the event with Jim Bell (Kenne Bell), Guy will have his '70 GS there as well. Following that is a NHRA/Buick event just up the road from there. We're gearing up for 2015. After this build the Smyly Buick '66 Gran Sport is next, Jimmy Sheils is donating one of his cars for the project, aren't you Jimmy...
More pics.... just back from the blaster and now in the raw. APB!!! we need any color pics of this car (that aren't already in the 65GS.com site) so we can nail the graphics on this car. Also, any pics out there of the Smyly Buick '66 GS (next project) driven by Ed Whyte that was raced in Epping and Colchester back then?
Finally got the paint going on. This body is super solid and straight and the paint is excellent, smooth no peel. We found original 1965 color photos of the the Reynolds '65 GS. Thanks to Don Reynolds. What you see is the original color selection on the car. Pontiac "Tiger Gold" , Artic White top with Med Red Poly interior. Still need the 15 x 6 steel wheels!!!!!!!
We also need a red steering wheel...does anyone have one...if it has a few cracks thats ok...can be worked.... I know they make the repros but..I just like orginal ones... if any one has one let us know..
Jimmy, Bring down the transmission! Bring all the parts down so we can do an inventory. We have 6 weeks left to...:birthday: Reynolds Buick. Thanks to Chris Horne for his incredible generousity. Thanks to Tony Gatta, super contributor, 100% Buick to the bone!!! We need finned valve covers.
i cant believe that smyly buick car is that popular i have a picture of that car sitting in the showroom and i pretty sure i have one of the trophys from newengland dragway i worked for smyly for 20 years will smyly is the reason i am a buick guy
When we build the Smyly car, we want you involved if you can spare some time. The history piece is very important to each of these Gran Sports we're building. Jack
It's Pop...Not Pop's and he's been dead for quite a few years. Although I'm sure he would appreciate the car, he was a man of few words and probably wouldn't be much help on information for the build. I know he wouldn't help me with ANYTHING in '66-67 when I was racing my '66 GS. ---Jim
Here are a couple of pics from today. Mounting the body. Thanks to everyone who has offered help. Still need a ST300 V.P.
Also.......does anyone have any Goodyear Blue streak 14x8.5 slicks???I know its along shot...I have located one set..but cant get him to budge... if anyone knows where I can find some...we need to have the right stuff on this car!!! so go digging through your uncles garage!!!!!!
Jimmy, Did you find a transmission yet. Good work today. Did you get any grief from being late for the party. Mustang Sally
