Ask Guy Parquette about the Reynolds car; his research is, to say the least, extensive. I believe the fastest time for the Reynold's car was 10.87? Or maybe 10.67? Or 10.49? I know it was in the 10's for sure, but I'll be damned if I can remember the exact number. You'd have to ask Guy for the correct answer. I believe there was a thread on it somewhere. There's a whole bunch of threads regarding original Stage II stuff scattered all over the board here. The search button is your friend!

Jeremy McNicol We had a good time

    With headers or manifolds

    Slicks or Bias Ply's

In Pure Stock trim I don't think much but lets here from some of the boys

Well, obviously headers. I don't think Buick ever designed a set of Stage II manifolds; that would just be silly. I believe both cars ran "Kustom" brand headers.

Slicks on both of 'em as well.

Where the heck is Guy when you need him?

I remember reading many moons ago that a "correct" Stage II car would run an 11.7et. For the life of me I can't remember where though!

Thanks Dan for the pictures! If you don't mind I would like to send some of those to Jeff At Reynolds for there web site? Or just tell him about them here...

Like I said before, if you're into muscle cars, this was the show to see...Wow!
And it was a pleasure to meet you Dan:beers2: Wish we could have talked a little more, but we both were busy with everything.
And it was very neat meeting Doug Jones and talking with him. He is a bundle of knowledge with his amazing memory. And a extreamly nice person.
Tom Rix was there also, and was nice to see him again. Tom did put his stock (K/B 107 cam though) Stage2 motor on the dyno and I think he said it put out 604 or 614 hp. There is a thread on V8 about it somewhere.. So that could give you an idea of what a 3,600 lbs car would run.
I don't know what the Reynolds car ran in stock Stg2 trim but it did run a 10.79 @ 128 in 1970.
When Dave Johnson had the car his fastest was 10.38 at 130 something.

I'm kinda all "showed" out at the moment and probably won't do any major shows for a while. I want to get back to some more racing with my GSX car.
But my goal now with the car would be to take it down the track at some point.

Oh, I also had this gentleman that was looking at our cars come up to me and says..."I have a Stage2 at home with 680 something original miles on it."
For just about a second I thought, oh boy here we go, one of these guys.
Then I thought to myself, we're in Chicago I bet this is Pat Sweeny (sp?) that bought Jim Turner's old Stg2.
So I think Pat was a little surprised when I said you must be Pat!
Anybody remember Jim Turner's car? That was my dream car back in the day when I saw it for sale in the Gsxra, and told Pat that.
So it was pretty cool meeting him and him telling some of the history of that great car.

Was that a Diplomat Blue Car ? If so, I remember reading magazine articles on that car. (My dream car as well)

    Who could forget that car?
I remember the time Jim had a problem with the valve train on one cylinder, so he pulled the spark plug. He still ran in the low 11's on 7 cylinders! This was at the Texas Motorplex in the early 90's.

Very cool pics!!!! I'm glad you guys posted them. It looks like the 2 Buicks were well presented!!!!:beer

    Congratulations on the show:kodak:

If my memory is right, weren't both cars together at the GSCA Nationals in the early 90s? They didn't have the graphics but were the same colors...white and red/black. I might have some old pics somewhere.....

    Very cool show...wish I went.................

Here are a couple of pics of Jim Turner's Stage 2 at Bowling Green. Im pretty sure it was 1996 as I had the 71 there fresh out of restoration. I remember the Benisek car was there also that year.

Picture quality is a little low, sorry

Then that is the year Dave Johnson brought the White car (Reynolds) there...

So when did the Benisek car get all lettered up? I like it!

Im torn between the car being restored back to road test trim or race car trim. Is it still an automatic or is the stick back in it?

Also the year that there was a set of NOS, in the box, Stage 2 heads there for $4k. I thought the guy was nuts:Dou:

Not that long ago, couple months.
Everything else looks the same as when Tom had the car except for the wheels/tires and paint.
It does look sweet with the lettering!
