followed an older gentleman today till he stopped . was driving a 77-78 skylark with pa. plates and dual exhaust and some body work - ? - he had been living a little north of me and recently moved to pa. and is gonna be back up in a few weeks . he told me that he has been keeping these cars for like 30 years and has some stored . he said he redoes them and puts sbc crate motors in some . will check and update ya . del
dan : do not know . he and his wife (?) were just pulling out after gassing up and i just spoke to him for a sec and gave him my card so he could call me in a couple weeks . looked like a regular kinda' character , mid 60's maybe , glasses and gray hair . should find out later i guess . del
sorry for the HUGE delay . hal ( yep it was hal ) had lost my phone # . called me back a little while ago and left me a message . i called back and was gonna meet up with him shortly and check them ( like about 20+ according to him ) out and take some pics . called him back the other day to check in - seems he also advertised 'em in hemmings , someone called him and made a deal to buy 'em all for scrap ??? thats what he said i think . am gonna call him back shortly to make sure and if so to see if i could get the other party's contact info to maybe save a couple or whatever . hal told me he was lookin to get $500 each for most of 'em , i'm just lookin for a real decent "shell , eng trans interior not needed . thanks for the wait . sorry . del
hal is an awsome guy. he has prety much everything for these cars. del, ask him if he is selling parts or just whole cars. oh and tell him dan with the orange 75 skylark says hi.
yep , seems like a nice enough guy . but to tell ya the truth i kinda got the feeling from a couple phone conversations with him that ( and this is just an off-the-wall feeling ) he was in the mood , for whatever reason , to get 'em all gone with no headaches or messin' around with parts or a million phone calls etc . i think i even offered to put a few pics up here for him and list his phone # and vehicle info so people could get ahold of him but ---- ? anyway asap i'll get caught up a little and try and get ahold of him . del
Hey Del, If you pick any of those up, I've got several Chevy engines down here. LT1's, 4.8/5.3's, 350", 406", 454"....you get the idea.
hey scott . let's see - hmmm - chevy ? chevrolet ? chebby ? jeez that all kinda sounds familiar - musta heard of those somewhere . i need a new toaster - do they make appliances ? or maybe plumbing ? 'cause i had to work on my shower a couple weeks ago . lawn mowers ? nope - thats honda ( that was the high performance vehicle in that commercial ) . del
X bodies are very hard to get parts for, I know a guy that had a BOP x body and he said there was no way to get parts unless you got lucky and found one in a junkyard. Buy up every last part you can get becasuse they are priceless
Re-pop parts are becoming more and more availiable. classic industries is making alot of pieces, infact i just got a brand new set of kick panels, try finding a good set of those in a junk yard.
you can get a fiberglass front bumper for 73-74 apollos through glasstek classic2current makes alot of replacement parts as well http://www.c2cfabrication.com/
http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=216123 same thing happened when i had some decent 66-67 parts. NOBODY CALLED. :blast: :blast:
I hear ya man, nobody is in the market to buy anything anymore. Its hard to be a seller these days. Best to just hold on to what you can and wait for a better selling market
and everybody passed on 3.42 8.5 posi and the sub frame connectors. had a lot of good parts left on it. not holding onto anything now. quicker and easier to get cash from the scrap yard. waste of my time trying to sell stuff.
