So my interior would be sandalwood/green?

Where did I get the term "covert" from when I decoded my trim tag?

Advertising and sales materals ( like order forms) called trim 984, code J sandalwood.
in 71 its a beige tone. 72 and 73 its a very light green tone with darker green accents - which doesn't show on the compatibility/coordination charts.

Fisher number is 684 and in71 fisher name is sandalwood, 72 fisher name is covert, 73 fisher called it neutral.

Most shops will give the 71 color when ordering sandalwood and many cars have been recovered in the wrong color because of this.

here's a picture of a sample from SMS of the 73 color which they insist is code 984 (based on 73 color and trim book) compared to a 73 riviera code 984 seat. its bestwhen ordering material send a sample of what you have to be matched, rather than going by the codes.

I've been promised pictures of a 71,72,73 trim 984 cars all taken at the same time in the same place with the same camera as soon as the weather clears and the three of them can get together.

Wow! Rob, you have done really excellent work documenting the differences in Sandalwood/Covert trim.
Hopefully, this effort will save some from expensive mistakes.

    Good job! :TU:

    Thanks David
Its a great example of why I started the registry. That info got but together by one person asking a question and three others sending in the bits of info and pictures experiences they had.
Working a boatttail decode book now - getting close to done, just a few small bit to figure out and some drawing to do, could be a while - one of the things is to get my rear axle cleaned so i photograph the codes. Of course that means it will be warm enough to start working on my riv again - less time to research write.
    - After that we are going to tackle Documenting Assembly Markings -
Anybody got a riv - please send your info and pictures in.

Have a good day and a better day tomorrow
    Come see the Boattail Registry
