The TA heads are very tempting, not to mention another 60 Pounds off the front of the car!! If I was to incorporate the TA Heads, a B4B and complete the other weight mods we have planned this thing might come in under 3,000pounds. I'd have to take a scale with every where we go because no one would believe me!!

My plan for now is to see where we end up with the Factory Cast Iron heads but it's very possible we may try some TA heads at some point. :Brow:

Jim, any plans for your car over the winter months? You're closing in on that 9 second slip - can't imagine your not brainstorming ??? :TU:

Just keep anything you remove. If you ever sell the car you'll be glad you kept all that stuff! (As well as the new owner)

There are plenty of things you can lighten and keep in the car and still have those parts functional. Most of us have more time than money lately and alot of the stuff I lightened was simply "time & labor".

    Todd,

Leave the A/C in if you can...

Fast Buicks are more impressive when you lift the hood and still see the A/C installed. :kodak:

man, these things can run. I got to drive a 71 that looked like a stock show car but ran like a bat-out- hell. best of luck with your project.

    Todd,
Most people say their car is heavier than it really is, but I don't know anyone that would say thier car is lighter than it really is!

Keep us updated on your progress!:3gears:

    Todd,

Love your build....my goal is to also lighten my Post Sedan. I noticed, your battery was either covered or not in the car. Is the battery in the stock location? Did you lighten the battery.....with the small battery inside an empty stock battery shell trick?

The main battery will be in the trunk and we're working on a dummy battery for the stock location.

Not sure what brand/weight battery I'll be running just yet. I am researching some lighter weight ones. For now I just have a Sears Die Hard in there to get it running.

Have you decided how you're gonna do your remote disconnect switch? That's one little detail I always like looking at, because it seems everyone has their own unique way of doing them! :TU:

Yes, we'll definately have a battery cutoff switch.

I'd like to conceal it as much as possible but at the same time it will need to be visible to the track techs on a race day so we may do something on a hinge that will fold down from the rear bumper. That way it will be visible and compliant on race day and still allow us to "hide" it when not at the track.

3 main things left to do:
    1) Install Exhaust System
    2) Mount Battery in trunk & hook up battery disconnect switch.
    3) Hope everything works ! ! !

  14. :TU: Great project! Lots of amazing fab & detail work. Subscribing, anxious to see how it runs in the spring.

I mounted the Battery Disconnect switch today. I built a hinged mounting bracket so I can hide the switch when not at the track.

2nd Photo shows the switch in "up/hidden" position which is where I'll keep it when not at the Race Track. Probably seems goofy but I've tried really hard to keep this car as stock looking as possible.

With winter in full swing I haven't done much so it felt good to work on it for a couple hours today. Not much left! I still need a full exhaust system which we'll install right away this spring. We're also working on a 2nd set of factory bucket seats which will be alot lighter than the stock set. I'll post some pictures and details once they're done.

An added advantage of hiding the switch is that it'll make the car harder to steal (for the impatient or stupid).

Are there any updates on this car? Is it running? Has it been out yet?

Just need an exhaust system and a front end alignment.

Hoping to have it on the road sometime this month. (and then to the track!)

If your going to put 2 1/2" mandrel bent exhaust on the car from PYPES, you better get ordering, as I noticed on their website it says that when the current stock of 2 1/2" headpipes are exhausted, that's it, no more.:ball:
