Early build or late? Mid year '71 Buick installed an electric solenoid in place of the dashpot. With the solenoid was another sticker explaining the steps to take setting it up.
Has anybody found reproductions for this second (Solenoid) sticker, which goes above the emissions sticker (closest to engine) on so equipped cars. Pictures I've seen of other your picture 2 would be the correct placement. I dont remember seeing the coolant sticker on A body cars, but I pay more attention to Riv's - most of them dont have that either. also the BG emissions sticker shown says "stage 1" on it, I not sure if that is correct, shouldn't it be just BG the upper left box cant read the spec's ?. the coolant sticker was on my Riv was placed vertical (read from right side of car) on the flat spot over by the rad filler cap. My jack instructions (inside trunk lid) was upside down. Bought three reproductions before getting one that was same as original (some being sold dont have part number, other the drawing was a 72 grill)
Ok I'm going to install like my picture #2 As far as how correct the decals are I bought it from Then and Now so I thought they should be right no??? I'll leave off the coolant sticker until I hear better. Ron
I cannot seem to find the early 1970 455 Non Stage Auto decal . Does anyone make it ? Or am I not looking to correct vendors? Thanx Dave
That sticker looks different. I wonder did they change the sticker for the GM retro-fit accessory kits?
The picture Nick posted is one of the 71 late build emission stickers. Late built 71's came from the factory with revised emission stickers and the associated electric solenoid stickers. Duane PS. There were two different versions of "solenoid" stickers, 1 for auto and 1 for manual trans.
While I am not an authority, I feel there is a strong possibility that the coolant sticker goes on the top of the overflow tank. If you look closely at an original overflow tank cover, you will see a very faint raised line in the same shape and dimensions as the coolant sticker. It is a logical place for the sticker. By the way, the raised line is not on the repro tank tops, which makes it easy to distinguish a repro from an original.
that one is for a 71 manual trans which present for the whole 71 model year - notice the relay - adjustment and picture of it is in the 71 chassis manual.
Hi The attached photo is from my original 71 GS 350 with 4 speed, for radiator info placement only. But I know you were looking for stage 1 info. I have two of these original radiator covers and they are exactly the same for 4 speed application. George
