Update. I finished installing the carpeting and the center console. The carpet was from Legendary and fit pretty well. Just the normal trimming needed.
I did not glue it in- only set in place. The seats and center console and the thresholds seem to do a good job of holding it in place. The seats- that have been covered for about 6 months and sitting in my office- went in with no issues. I still have to clean, dye and install the seat belts- so I'll have to remove the rear bottom seat to get to those.
I'm on the final details now. Still have to polish the wheel trim rings and fix the cracks in the original steering wheel. A few other odds and ends and the car will be finished---- but is it ever really finished:confused:

Update. The car is almost finished now. I took it to gsjo today for the final detailing and to repair a chip (oops) in the paint as a result of a bumper install situation- bumper hits paint, paint gets scratched.
Otherwise, I'm working on repairing the original steering wheel that is cracked and cleaning and dying the seatbelts. I'll post pics when I get the car back from Joe and if the sun ever comes out here in Ohio.
Just a sidenote- our thoughts and prayers to the families affected by the tornado outbreak in AL and the south.

Another update. I attended the BPG show in Columbus at the end of July. With a lot of help from the great Buick experts in the area here, I was persuaded to show the car in the Concours class. I was very fortunate to have the car judged as Concours Gold. It was quite an honor- not what I planned for the car when I started, but it kinda evolved in that direction. It was a fun weekend for sure getting to show the car to lots of fellow Buick nuts. gsjo posted a great set of pictures of the car on his JC Autobody thread also.

Randy, thanks for bringing your car out to the show! It was great meeting you and was a pleasure to present your GOLD award:bglasses: Your car is absolutely stunning. I've been itching to see it up close since this thread started. You are the one who gave me the idea for the body stands, and I used the same idea on my 58...worked like a charm.

Hope to see you next year, and to present another concours gold award to you:beer

Adam- thanks very much. It was great meeting you in Columbus- thanks again for all the work you do for the BPG. Look forward to seeing you next year. Glad those stands worked out for you. It was someone else's idea- I just customized it and passed it along.

Todd- the steering wheel is OK, but still not where I want it. I'm planning to pull it this winter and re-work it. I also have a 68 wood sport wheel that I'm going to restore over the winter.

Just read all seven pages.. wow! I would love to do something even half this amazing with my '71. I love the simple way you lifted the body off the frame, I'm going to keep that in my mind.
