Check out this single turbo kit for the 350!:TU: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=242608 I think this is a great way to gain power on a stock 350! No need to even mess with the tough manifold bolts!:3gears:Simple and effective! Here is the pic in full size!
Looks pretty simple to me.. All you need is a good fuel system with aboost reefrence regulator, tap off the block where the oil pressure switch is and run an oil feed line, run a drain line right to the spot where the fuel pump used to be, have a down pipe made, a blow through carb with a hat, and a charge pipe.. BAM....:beers2:
Looks great to me as well, guys should be able to keep there AC as well. Nice !! What's with this BUICKRAT guy, once again if you don't have something nice to say keep it TO YOURSELF ! Some people on this board seem to be on a vendetta for some unknown reason. It's very unfortunate for the rest of us. Cheers Curtis
so do you need to fab your own exhaust from the turbo? wonder how this would work with some nice flowing headers?
Without going into detail, using a full length tube header creates the most efficient link between the turbo and the engine. Paul
Yeah, looks like the exhaust would be routed out down the firewall. I am sure any muffler shop could do that though. Something like Mark's setup here? Yes, agreed... My system is tube headers to the twin turbos, however this should be a great way to add a few PSI to a mild or stock engine...:TU: I can delete this if you guys want... I just wanted to show people this nice simple way to add boost. I am not trying to push anything, just showing another option so people could keep AC etc... It is always good to have options.... So, if more people think this thread is out of line then I will delete it, does not matter to me.... :TU:
nope , info n pics here always welcome . i'm more of a supercharger guy ( if the bucks start flowin' ) than a turbo guy but i have to admit that looks kinda simple and doable . supercharger setups just look a little more basic and less cluttered than some turbo setups i guess . lower tech for me . a graduate of the Lower Technical Institute of Rural Upstate New York In The Sixties . put that on a t-shirt . that y-pipe stock manifold thing was real food for thought .
Yeah, I have to say I have been grumpy the past week... I hurt my knee badly and been stuck on the couch 100% of the time... Not fun for a guy who likes to get stuff done.:spank:
LOL, all I know is it was -40 F yesterday here.... Today it warmed up to -34 F LOL! On a good note, I am excited to get the Buicks back on the road this spring... Maybe next winter I will have a single turbo on my winter car (88 Caddy Brougham with carbed 307 and 2004R). Something like this would wake up the little 307!:3gears:
Sean, sorry to hear about the knee, hope things are getting better. I know how you feel when my ribs where broken I was a serious couch potato. And a major grump too. That simgle turbo set up maybe the way to go with the wagon. Any idea what Mark is charging. Is it a compete kit or just the pipe? wonder how I can do it with my headers I just put on. Tim
You guys are going to make Buick 350s prices go through the roof!!! That set up looks easy enough and Im no turbo guy. And post whatever you guys want. Let the Mods decide whats worthy of bandwidth on this board. Its their job and I think they do it pretty good around here. :beers2: Please people try to remember that the info posted on this board isnt just for us, but for anybody who searches the web. Its not as easy to find info on a turbo'd Buick 350 on the internet as one might think. .02
Tim a good muffler shop could build that setup for you, and while they are at it they can build the down pipe out the back.
Bump to the top for some good info, and thinking about how I could build one for use with headers. Is there any picture of it in the car, I would like to see where everything ends up, Sean, Mark somebody Tim
The problem with using headers is that it takes the exhaust further under the car and then you have to bring it back up to the engine bay... The only way I would consider a turbo setup with regular headers is to mount the turbo under the car where the fuel tank is and run a fuel cell. Here is a trunk mounted turbo skylark: http://www.buickperformancegroup.com/forums/showthread.php?10956-350-single-turbo-project-72-Skylark Send james a PM, he will let you know how it is going: http://www.v8buick.com/member.php?18770-Turbo455
