It seems like a lot of wagon people have made the jump from the SBB to the BBB? So the question is what motor and drive train are you running in your wagon?

I am still running the stock 350 and TH350 trans.

I'm running stock 350-2 with the TH-350.The car drives out pretty good with this combo.I hope to get up into the mountains this summer for some camping,so that will be a good test for the car.

Present or very near future? (Re: drive train in your wagon?)

Dear Tim and V-8 Buick wagon lovers,

    Well . . . . . . I'm tryin' I'm tryin'!!

My 65 Special wagon still has the stock 300 V-8 right now (on its second worn out rebuild) and a TH350 tranny from its first rebuild.

However, Orinda Motors already has the 200-4R tranny I ordered at about the same time as I ordered a Jim Weise super-deluxe big-block Buick engine. So as soon as Jim can finish up that puppy and ship it to California . . . . well, the fellers' at Orinda Motors will have to figure out how to stuff all that into my trusty wagon!! (Obviously with a lot of help from me! )

    So until then . . . . just waitin' . . . . [IMG]

    Cheers, Edouard

Howdy Tim and V-8 Buick wagon lovers,

    Oh no ya' don't . . . . . !!

I'm afraid the old 300 is getting really weary. :( Sure hoping it can hang on until Jim finishes up!

Hi, I have a 72 Sporty and I am running a 200 4r tranny and a rebuilt 350 with a TA 212 cam and hookers headers.Next to go in is a set of 3.42 gears,
has 3.08's in it now. It took about two years to get everything dialed in , but now she runs real nice.I had to play with torque converters as well, finally ended up with a 2000- 2200 , seemed to work best for me. Cheer Curtis

How's the MPG? (Re: drive train in your wagon?)

Dear Curtis and V-8 Buick wagon fans,

Hmm, somewhat similar to what I'll have. Just out of curiosity, what sort of gas mileage do you get out of your braggin' wagon?

    Cheers, Edouard :beer

Hey, on the HWY I am in the 21-23 mpg and in the city it drops because I hammer it to often, city is around 15 mpg. The car works great for both and with the cost of gas I still have a fun car and can drive it without being killed at the gas station. My buddy has a 70 gs and I basically get double on the hwy and city to him. Cheers Curtis

My 65 Special was born with the V-6. Born to be mild! I wanted to just put a junkyard 455 in it but I learned about TA performance and bought all my parts from them and built it up pretty much. Anyway, it is a 455 th400 combo now.
i put a 350/350 Buick into my 65 sedan, which is also wicked fun.

As of this week my 65 Sporty has a 350SBB, 200R4, 3.31 posi I just took out a 350SBB, TH350 2.56 rear it originally came with 3.23 geas in the rear but i switched them out 3 yrs ago for better milage, the new combo I just installes was in my 64 HT and got as high as 28 MPG on long runs. I expect the wagon to come close to that as well

I have the stock 400-4 and TH400 in my Sporty. The whole front enod of the motor is new due to a worn timing chain, yeah TA Performance came in real handy. I see maybe 12 mpg with it.

I just trial fit the '69 GS hood and air cleaner on it today. The paint on the whole car is shot, so I think I'm going to leave it orange. The hood was already all set up for the pins, otherwise I wouldn't have added them. The front grill and grill surround and bumper were tweaked at some point and time in its life, but it doesn't bother me. I have a buddy that can make stickers, and I thinking of designing something similar the "GS400" sticker that goes on the air cleaner, but having it say "Sport Wagon" instead...we'll see.

Have an unusual combination in 76 Estate Wagon:
455, +.030, flat top pistons, RV cam, 2-1/4 dual exhausts with flowmasters, 700R4 tranny and 3.23 with posi.
Pulls like a circus elephant. Run Michelin light truck tires. Air shocks just to keep everything level.
The OD doesn't seem to add much to gas mileage. Low and second gears seem to pull better in front of TT.

For some unknown reason the previous owner of my Sportwagon put hood pins on it.Oh,and then about half a dozen hammer hit dents.lol

Stock 340-4(AFB) and 2 speed switch in mine. 373 posi out back is nice....
Have a BBB and 200R waiting to go in when the 340 dies...which doesn't appear to be soon enough. It runs great! Might have to just pull it and move on.
