    Hello

I have a 1971 Buick Skylark Custom with 63000 original miles.
I want to replace the vinyl top and the only colors I can find are Black, White & Tan.
Does anyone know where I can find a Brown Vinyl Top that is close to original
as possible, I know years ago they made different colors? Thanks for any help.

I did a quick search for Brown Levant grain vinyl top. The only colors that came up were black, white, Green, and Buckskin.
I then contacted SMS auto fabrics. Here is there response.

We have this. Shall we send you a sample? If so, what is your postal mailing address?

Thanks everyone for the help, I do have samples coming from SMS. I contacted all the other interior
companys and Black, White and Tan seem to be the only colors most of them carry because of the demand.
Here is a picture of my Skylark. 71 Buick.jpg
It's my driver I also have a 1970 GS Stage 1 hiding under the covers in the garage I purchased my GS 25 years ago
and did a frame off restoration which was completed in 1995.

I hate to admit I have been thinking about selling the GS, it is the only 1970 GS Stage 1 with Riviera only paint code
46 Emerald Mist, there are only 4 more known Riviera only painted 1970 GS Stage 1's, (2) Stratomist Blue #26 (1) Azure Blue #20 and (1) Titian Red #74. Information was taken from the GS Stage 1 Registry. Thanks again, Ron

DSC00209.jpg Bought one through Then and Now, which was a SMS top. SMS makes them at there leisure (about a year to be exact) and a bunch of money (over $500). Once install looks awesome.

After reading your thread fully, I recently found a 1970 GS Stage 1in emerald mist poly with white interior. Just this week I sent an email to Marco asking questions about the color which I didn't find on his registry. Am trying to buy car to restore. been in peices for over 15 years. Only time will tell if he will part with it. Thanks for posting that info.

Check with Key Auto Tops. They are the manufacturer for most vinyl tops. I bet they make Legendary. They do not list Brown either but I believe they will custom make them. I would bet it would be substatially less than $500. Beware of the shade of Brown. I have a dealers showroom book with actual samples of the vinyl material. It was a very dark brown. Many of the reproductions I have seen look more like a cordovan or reddish brown. This is NOT the way they were.

What could be wrong buying a top from this vendor in stead of SMS or Legendary?:http://r.ebay.com/Byl0kz
Could it be the material or wrong sizes?
    Any experiences?

Incorrect grain pattern and/or color is a risk. I would inquire about this. Until Legendary had this grain patern remade in the recent past, I think NOS was maybe the only correct option. Generally, SMS bought up the NOS roles of fabric from former GM suppliers like Collins and Aikman.

So I would inquire if the Ebay seller is representing this to be the correct grain patterm and the factory color.

Another thought from questionable sources is seam location. Some cheapos may have only one seam and not the correct two. ..... Funny how I have seen most cars I believe were original had the seam on the front winshield pillar folded in the up position. All aftermaket tops have the seam is in the down position. Anyone else ever notice this?

    Read the Ebay ad.
Fleece backing. Avoid this type of material. It wicks water up and rusts your roof.

I have installed the new top material from Legendary and it is top quality.
