I've seen this car pictured on Flickr and I was wondering if someone here knows this car or the owner? The wheels look very nice! <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mobycat/8081656959/" title="1967 Buick Riviera by mobycat, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8185/8081656959_d6da400572_z.jpg" width="640" height="367" alt="1967 Buick Riviera"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mobycat/8321077494/" title="1967 Buick Riviera by mobycat, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8494/8321077494_8d1d5c57ae_z.jpg" width="640" height="297" alt="1967 Buick Riviera"></a>
Wish it had a better shot It almost looks like he used some adapters or something Unless of course he spent the big bucks and those centers machined out of the 5 on 5 rims. Interesting
it really looks like the wheels have been widened and rechromed, I knew a guy that did this once and made 8" wheels out of them, they looked similar to those
The 17" are 4.75" bolt circle, and have straight spokes, those are widened full size 5" bolt with the arched spokes.
in 17 inch? those arent 15s. id imagine those are ar500 or similar with buick centers on them. ---------- Post added at 05:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:27 PM ----------
I think they use the center section from Buick full size 5x5 rims, otherwise, they closely reproduce their shape.
I stopped by McWheels today to chat, and asked him if he could make me a set of Riviera wheels in 15X8, and how would it be done. The answer was YES, the center is machined out, and rewelded back into a larger barrel, clean up the welds , rechrome the wheels and there you go. I was surprised, cost is not bad at all apprx $1200 He can do 15X7 15X8 and 15X10 in the large series rallyes
I bought a set from McWheels .... but have not been able to find Curt since then. I would like another set for my 96 Roadmaster wagon. See photoon 1956...5x5 center cut , welded. powder coated 8" wide.
