Anyone by chance have a spare 1965 or 1966 Nailhead 425 laying around they wouldn't mind parting with? It does not have to be running. Perferrably not been rebuilt and turns over freely by hand. If you happen to have a standard bore block laying around, I would be interested in hearing about that as well. I would also prefer to stay away from the KX Coded blocks if possible. If you have an engine or block available or possibly have a line on one I would definitely appreciate the offer. Thanks, Johnny
Here ya go. It IS a KX code you really didnt want but...check it out! "I have the complete KX coded motor and trans. It was a running engine when removed and turns over freely by hand. Michael 818-913-3500" ...and HE is in TEXAS too!! Be sure to mention WHEELZ, Tampa Bay sent ya!
Lol. I can't remember off hand what the different codes are for the 425. I know KX and MW. I want to say there is one or two more, but can't remember them right now. The KX is not necessarily undesirable, but they are known to have more casting flaws than the other blocks. Especially the earlier ones from 63 and 64. Its best to test any block before you start building on it, but if I can fi d a later block 65-66 and not a KX then I reduce my chances of getting one with casting flaws from the factory.
this one may? be 425, although i dont know for certain. 1965 electra 225 full size convertible. non a/c. did have p/s and p/b. close to 1000 miles west of you.
I assume that is yours? In a big car it is likely a 425. If you look on top of the block directly in front of the valley pan on the passenger side there should be two letters and a number. Those first two letters will tell us what it is for sure.
Johnny... If you plan on machining a block anyway? Why not talk to Michael as stated in reply #2 above. His nailhead includes a tranny! He is close to you and he may be willing to make you a real deal! :TU: jm.02cw. Wheelz, Tampa Bay
