I've had this set up for a little while now. It looks great and handles well however I have some rubbing issues with the outer sidewalls. Mostly with bumps and dips in the road. I have airbags but I'm not really in to putting the rear end way up. I do like a slight rake though. Upon talking with a fellow Buick friend, he suggested I might want to try and go with P275s instead of the P295s I have now. Has anyone put a P275 tire on a 15 X 10 rim ? Will this work ? Thx, John Biggs.

Sorry, I didn't mention that these are a 50 series tire. Backspacing on the rims is 5.5 in.

Where does it rub in the wheel well?

Well, you have the right BS for a 10" wide wheel. It's centered in the wheel well. I have a 325/50R15 tire on mine and no rubbing issues. Are you talking about it rubbing up in the wheel well. If so, that's going to happen. The simple solution is airbags in the rear springs. Just put about 7-10 lbs. of pressure in them to take the bounce out of the back and you'll be fine.

Are you sure your rims have 5.5" of BS? Many are made with only 4.5".

Hi Phillip, yes I have 5.5 in. of BS on the rims. I do have airbags as well. To prevent the rubbing on the outside of my sidewalls on dips and bumps I have to bring the back up a bit. Outside sidewalls of the tires have a few scratches and cuts from the edge of the fender coming down on them. Normal driving on a good smooth I have no problems. I trimmed or carefully ground my fender lip back to about where my trip is. Helped a little. Guess I'll just have to be more careful with the bumps and dips. Thx. John.

How much air is in the airbags? I have 8-10 lbs and it really doesn't raise the back at all. And it really firms it up.

You should be able to "trim" back the fender well lip to near the welds without any issues. I did mine just along the part that's parrallel with the ground. How much room do you have on the inside? I can stick my finger between the tire and the frame.....barely.

No problem at all with the inner part of the fender. It's only the outer fender lip. On a bump or dip it will come down on sidewall of the tire. Not really happy about cutting up my sidewalls a little bit but I guess it's a learning experience. I'll put more than 5psi in my airbags. That's what I put in them usually. It brings the back up about an inch or so.

    John,
Is your rear axle the original one from the car ? or have you replaced it with a different year, make, model one ?

This was my next thought. Something is positioning those rims out further than on most other cars. Your tires are over 1" narrower than mine.

Had the car since 1985 and have never replaced the axle. Found out the transmission wasn't original so now I'm wondering about the rearend. If I remember isn't the identification number some where on the top of the driver's side axle tube ?

Measure your axle from drum to drum ( outside where the wheel bolts on ) if you can't find the code.

you can fit a 325-50 on a 15x10 with 5-5/8 to 5.75 BS with either air shocks, or correct moog springs which I have PN for

but 275-60 vs 295-50..I always liked the 275s better as it has width and height with either a 235-60 or 245-60 in front, it looks bad ass

I think a discussion on "backspacing" vs "frontspacing" is in order.

what's front spacing? lol unless you mean wheel spacers? or simply backspace for front wheels?
Ive only heard of backspacing and offset, and you dont get into offset till its a 2 piece or 3 piece rim

To understand some more about the offset of Wheels look at the orig wheel vs the Orig WG wheels vs the Custom wheels I have

Offset is the distance from the center of the wheel to the wheel mounting surface. On an 8" rim, for example, you would measure from the center (4") to the mounting surface. There is positive and negative offset. Positive offset moves the wheels further in towards the center line of the car, negative, the opposite way. To relate that to back spacing, our 15 X 8" Buick Rallye wheel has 4 1/2" B.S. The offset would be + 1/2"

OZGS455 Oh what a wonderful day!

I plan on getting my Buick Rally 15x7" made into 15 x 10" with 5.5" backspacing
and running 275 60 15 tyres,....on the rear that is.
On my '71 Skylark GS Stage 1
Seems to be the general consensus here, what do you think @LARRY70GS
