Here's some pictures of my restoration. The car is code 75/75, fire red. Very rare car. No A/C, no PS, manual drum brakes, clear glass, only options are tach. and gauges. Black base bench seat. G-60-15 dog dish wheel option. This car was about the closest to a factory race GS as you could buy and the car was raced from new. This car has a build date of 06C and is the last car listed on Marco's Stage 1 registry. Gregg
Nice work! Looks awesome. Love bare bones, 3 pedal GS's! You can add option M20- 4 speed close ratio transmission to your list.
Gregg Very nice . Make a good companion to the Green Machine . I hope you can bring it to BG next year. Regards DL
very nice.i too have red 70 4 speed no otion gs that i did a frame off in 1987.i have power steering though and added power disc brakes.like to see pic of bench seat thanks.
Dl I don't have a time frame on this car but it's gonna be awhile before it ever gets to bg! The body has not been started on,it's rust free but has hail dents! The mileage says 29,000 andthink it's actual by the look of all the wear parts! I am bringing back another thread with more pics of both cars and there is a partial pic of bench seat. This red car is the work of Gary foster as well as my green car and his 70 silver mist car. He is almost done with his fourth 70 stage 1 resto. Diplomat blue auto. Many of you old timers of bg know of him. He is a master of these cars! Look at the detail of every part! Gregg
Ttt I am restarting this thread for update and for Buick lovers who may have not viewed. Gary foster has been working hard for me on the body, I think he is going over it 3 times (prime and sand) car was full of hail! Cost of just materials is crazy I think it will be painted in November. I think the paint job in pieces quote is 6500 code 75/75 RED$$$ i was expecting higher then we'll set the body on and start the fun part of a resto ( installing new / restored parts) Gary is a perfectionist and he is done after this one. Body work is a bitch will post pics when I get help thanks for looking Gregg
Cool hope you can have it BG next Sept Gregg , I hear there will be some other cool 4 speeds too .. DL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Neat car, Gregg. Mine is also pretty stripped with manual steering and manual drum brakes. Really love the doggies and steel wheel combo on these cars, too. Please keep us updated.
The base 15" steel wheels were painted argent silver with the trim rings and poverty caps. I chose to paint mine body colored for my car in my avatar because I like that look, but it's not correct.
Awesome Car! Love those stripped down Buicks - So out of Character, but obviously some people knew what to order. Clear glass has to be super rare. Would love to see the Wayne Roberts on it if you'd post it someday. Shortest one I'd seen is the the blue '70 Stage 1 4-sp. in Las Vegas that's been for sale. It had a radio/8-track/rear speaker, Soft-Ray windshield, trailer tow, and the same wheels as yours, but no tach & gauges. Yours may qualify as the lowest option Stage 1 4-sp. made. Did any of the orig. drivetrain survive?
I was up t Greg's shop, in Yankton SD, yesterday and the pictures do not show how nice the frame and chassis are. I had seen the car before they stared on it, and the body was vey nice, except the hail. I believe the drive train is original, just restored. Thanks Bill.
