My Tomahawk block got here today and I got it on a engine stand to look it over for a day or two before I have to give it to my engine builder to put my internals in.
That is just tooooo cooool to see. I wish it was sitting in my shop. Could you post a pic of the main saddles please. Thanks Rick
Looks good Michael!! Sorry I didn't start on the pan yet. It's crunch time for finishing the house so we can move in. The house is already a month behind schedule and I don't see us moving in until after Christmas. I'll do my best to get at it as soon as possible. Mike is going to be sending me my block also (soon) and that will aid me in building your oil pickup. Thanks, Steve
Yes. Stock stroke (3.900) that has been turned 0.010/0.010 to make sure it was smooth and round. Looked through six cores to come up with a good one.
Now I have block envie. If my kids would suddenly become self sufficient I could get me one of those!
Since I only have the cam bearing now (cam being made), I compaired the new Ford bearing to a factory Buick bearing. You can put a buick bearing inside the Ford bearing easy. I pulled out the factory oil pan gasket I have and the gasket it self can not be used. It will be better to just make a new gasket than to cut up the factory one. You can use the rubber over-main-cap part.
Michael if its not to much trouble can you get one with out the cap. Thanks for the first one. Thanks Rick
Pulled off the front cap and took some pictures. removing the main cap is not easy. I had to make a removal tool.
Thanks for pics of the saddle. That's definetly a work of art. I wished I had the coin for one. Thanks Rick
The new cam came in and it has to weight twice what the factory cam does. The new cam is the one on the bottom.
I went by my engine builder to see what progress was made and got there as he was putting the last two pistons in. After he put the last piston in, I installed the head studs and he started to degree the cam.
Nice Michael, What sort of timeframe are you looking at before you are able to fire that bad boy up? Cheers
