Sheesh! Are we good at this PM stuff or what?!? I think we have it now. ---------- Post added at 09:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:27 PM ---------- There's not nearly enough of them out there - Pro Touring or otherwise. Strange because everyone comments on how cool they are. Thanks Tim!
Your car is coming along nicely. I like it. My 65 Skylark already had 11" front disc brakes on it when I got it. I added 11" discs to the rear but I wish I had more brake. I have been doing a lot of searching for a front brake upgrade and I keep coming back to the CPP big brake kit like you have. Seems to be the best deal for the money. 6.28 sq/in of brake pad on a 13" rotor should be a big improvement over what I have. Edit: Forgot to say I do have 17" wheels so the brakes should fit.
For the money, CPP is tough to beat, but unfortunately their customer service is pretty bad. If you're going to do business with them, call and make sure what you want is in stock. You can actually be better off by using one of their vendors that has a connection or stock. Next step up is Wilwood. Costs quite a bit more but it's more than worth it if your budget permits. Thanks Todd I appreciate you stopping by. Here's how the gauges are looking during the mock up. The angle obviously needs to be adjusted, but this is how the spacing is going to look.
Oh, that red and white thing? That's just an old 72 Cheyenne short wheelbase with a big block aluminum head 454 that's getting a new front and rear suspension.
Steve, love the wheels on the chevy!! what is your ideas with trim on your car, keeping everything chrome or going to a brushed look? any idea with seats yet? what are you running for a controller for the efi setup? Paul turbocharged Nailhead
Sorry man, I didn't see your post till tonight. The gauges are from Speedhut. ---------- Post added at 09:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:20 PM ---------- Thanks Paul I have been spending several weekends polishing up the stainless, which was in pretty decent shape. I am using bucket seats from a 63 Impala. I got PUI to do custom covers for them in the Skylark pattern. They did the backseat, door panels, rear shelf, back side panels and headliner. All that stuff showed up last week. Im using the GM ECM that came with the engine. ---------- Post added at 09:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:37 PM ---------- Also got the narrowed rear end from Moser this week. It took them a week from the time I ordered it until I got it. Narrowed 1-1/2 on each side from stock, 3.73's with Eaton posi. Rear brakes installed.
Wow Steve really coming along looookin good! You must work all day and all night to get that all done. I just spent 4 days getting the sanding done on my left door. It had 4 different coats of paint on it. Black green red and white, call it my multi use door. But not 1 ounce of bondo. Jim C
Hey Jim, how's it going? The reason this is moving so fast is because I'm not doing the work on this one. I am using my good friend Kyle at Laid Back Recreations on this. It started out as a simple respray but one thing led to another. Keep after it, you'll be there before too long. Doing it right takes a bit.

I did 63 skylark seats in mine and like them much better than a 66 seats. what did you end up using for tracks? I ended making custom tracks to get the seats to sit low enough. Had a issue with the factory tracks being too high. With the ecm did you send it out to have the security(vats) removed. looking to build a turbo 6.0 for my next project.. You will like the look of 1.5 on each side. I run 275 with a nice dished wheel and able to get rid of a ton of Backspacing. think I am a 3.75
I haven't tackled the seat install yet so I don't know what issues await there. On the PCM, I just ordered a custom harness from Street & Performance. You tell them what you're going to need and they eliminate the rest. I also like them because they cover the wires in heat shrink so it has a factory appearance to it. You can also specify a custom length, long or short, so you can place the ECM where ever you want. I got mine made longer so I can mount it in the interior under the seat - trying to keep the engine compartment as clean and uncluttered as I can. I will be putting the battery in the trunk too. Here's a pic of how much more room I have for some lip on the wheels I'll be ordering.
