Found a place locally here in Phoenix, Chuck's Speed & RV, that still has R12 and works with the old systems. Mine hasn't blow cold in quite some time. Partly due to me never re-charging it once I bought the car about 4 years ago. I am originally from Seattle and it hardly ever gets so hot that we have to use the AC. But now I'm in AZ I will definitely need it here. Luckily the system is in good shape. No major issues, except for a hole in one of my lines that over time developed from rubbing against a metal bracket. Once that was fixed, the AC system took a charge just fine and it blows super cold. Took about 4lbs since it was completely empty. Very happy with it results.
Way to go! I keep a jug of 12 here for future use. I recovered what was in the car when I bougt it, replaced the compressor and recharged. Although it blows really cold I think newer cars still have better systems.
