OK, I know this is a long shot, but I have to try.

Years ago I sold a '70 Stage 1 hard top 4-Speed car VIN 446370H169734. The car was Burgandy with brown vinyl top, and had Burnished Saddle buckets. This was not a Buick recommended color combination, and I distinctly remember the code Z189 on the body tag. The car went to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area as I recall, but it could be anywhere now. When I sold it, it had the original engine and trans, but not the carb and distributor. It had the consolette, but lacked the shifter. The entire front clip was missing.

The car seemed to fall off the map. I have not seen it since, and it is not in the Stage 1 registery. I would love to get it back if it still exists. Hopefully with the original engine and trans. Does anyone know of it's whereabouts?

    I know......good luck!

That's a really unusual color combination. Probably the only one built like that. Good luck on your search.

    Hey Jim,
Keep up the faith. You have gotta a whole lot of views here and you never know what might happen. It was your ad that inspired me to create a "lost poster" here about my missing engine. Here's hoping we get lucky! ~ Steve

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys, I hope it turns up.

I was actually selling another car at the time, and a gentleman had come to look it over. A friend of his who came along saw this one in the garage, and had to have it. He started making offers, and I had a weak moment I guess. I really regret selling it now.

Have you checked the registry or police yet? They can at least tell you if the car is registered or not and in what area it's located. We had them run a check on a car we bought to make sure it was on the up and up (long story) and they found that it hadn't been registered in all of New England in the past 5 years.

Are we sure it's not JCP's "triple brown" car that we're looking for?

I know where this car is! I was with them when they picked it up from you. That was AT LEAST 25 years ago! It was stored for years in my rental garage after coming back to Cincinnati. It's pretty much still in the same condition you sold it in. PM sent with current owner info. Good luck!

PS: The current owner and myself actually traded ownership on the car several times. If you get it back, I have almost ALL the parts to restore it. That was my plan when I owned it. lol

HA! I even found pictures of the car in question from 10 years ago. The original Stage 1 engine sat on an engine stand in my basement until 5 years ago when I finally insisted the current owner come get it.

Wow there it is. Man what an interesting story. I would not mind having that one sitting in my garage. A rare car with unique history check, rare color combo check and a 4 spd check. Ok now Jim just has to get it back

Nothing thus far, but I am keeping my fingers crossed. Since it has been nearly a month with no reply, I may try another avenue to contact the owner.

    Wish me luck.
